"Work entails hanging and finishing drywall for walls and ceiling for a 1300 sq. ft. basement. There are also three closets and three regular soffits with one very large soffits. The ceilings are 9 ft. where there isn't a soffit. Luther Spears was very friendly and punctual for my quote. He said he had 60 jobs ahead of mine and that it would take 6-7 days to complete the job. I believe Luther would do a quality job but the cost was just too high. I ended up paying half of his quote with another reputable drywall contractor. Materials for this job would only be about $1300. My thoughts are that hanging drywall does not really require high skill labor and should be relatively cheap. Finishing the drywall, really just the corners, is a skill job but requires a smaller crew. Paying 4X the material costs just doesn't feel right for this work."
