If your new pavers look dull, it’s usually because of efflorescence. It is a chalky, white powder that is released when lime gets wet. If you have the patience, simply wait a year or so out. Efflorescence will be washed away naturally by rain. You can also use a pressure washer to restore faded pavers covered by efflorescence.

Heated driveways cost an average of $12 to $25 per square foot. Depending on the size of your driveway, you may pay between $3,500 to $25,000 in total. Several factors can affect your bottom line, including material, labor, and system types. Investing in a heated driveway can save on snow removal costs because it will automatically melt the snow that falls on your driveway.

Maintaining a driveway depends on the material your driveway is made of. Concrete and asphalt should be sealed to protect against water and freeze-thaw cycles. Cracks and expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. Before you apply a sealant to your driveway, consider pressure washing the surface. While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.
