"Great. Initial assessment was that wiring new outlet would require an exterior conduit. But, after crawling through the attic access it was determined that the wiring could be installed without punching holes through the exterior walls. Yeah."

"We got a couple quotes to have a GFCI outlet installed in our home. Electric Today charged less than half of our other quote, then offered to install it on the spot when we said we would use his company. He had everything he needed on his truck and in less than an hour, we had our outlet installed when all we expected was another quote. He was friendly, efficient, and professional. Wouldn’t hesitate to call him again or to recommend him. GREAT experience and a very fair price!"

"The provider identified a problem with our home electrical wiring related to our outside electric dog fence. It had caused an exterior outlet to stop working as well as a bank of lights in our basement and garage. He was able to identify the problem in less than a few minutes and did NOT charge us for the service. We have favorited this provider and will certainly use them again as they have shown themselves to be honest and knowledgeable. Now we can get the Christmas lights working outside! Thanks."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.
