"Braxton was extremely nice and talented. He fixed a large hole in our drywall that was above the cabinets. He also re-textured the ceiling to match the existing texture. After the repair was completed, he cleaned up the dust and mopped the floor."

"John and his Grandson, Marcus, were a delight to work with. Very professional. Very detailed. Very meticulous. John knows his craft and insists on quality. You would never know the plaster walls had holes in them from the whole house rewire we had done earlier in the year. John and Marcus went above and beyond to make us happy and even took on additional tasks outside of the original scope of work. You just don’t find craftsman like John nowadays. You get what you pay for."

"Joel Thomas and the people that work with him are professional, polite, and considerate. There is no need to be concerned about the people working with him. He is very helpful in suggesting colors that work well. He let me know when they would arrive, and they were on time. They covered and moved furniture, and worked hard and carefully. They patched imperfections on the walls, and painted the ceiling and walls. They also replaced four light fixtures that I had purchased. They cleaned up after the work was done, moved furniture back, and made sure that I checked to be sure everything was OK. Joel Thomas has painted and done repairs on the outside of my home twice before, and I would always hire him for that kind of work."

"The team is exceptional. The entire process was perfect. I love the brothers and other guys. We have used Pro Decor in the past and absolutely love the then too. The guys are incredibly professional, helpful, and engaging. They were so willing to help in any way. The attention to detail was perfect and their awareness was spot on. The guys did all nail repairs, drywall repairs and noticed the ceiling in my parlor bath needed painted and did that as well. They didn't leave any sign of a mess and when my husband came home and saw everything was back on the walls and in its place, that he didn't have to do ANYTHING, he was stoked. Price was great. Everything was detailed in the estimate and NO surprises. I will absolutely use them again and refer to anyone I know. Well done John Jeremy And team."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Wondering who to call for ceiling repair? While you can hire a handyperson to fix minor cracks, you’ll want to hire a drywall professional for larger issues. Depending on the cause of the crack, you may need to hire other contractors, such as a foundation contractor, mold remediation company, roofer, or plumber near you.

You can repair plaster ceilings yourself after the cause of the ceiling damage has been addressed. However, the repair can easily take 5 hours and can be slightly challenging for those without previous experience. If you do decide to flex your DIY muscle, have a helper to help hold the ladder and pass you the tools for safety purposes.

Smaller is better when patching holes with spackle. Any holes wider than four to six inches in diameter tend to be too wide to repair with spackle alone. You'll likely want to patch bigger holes with a drywall panel.

Even holes measuring up to 6 inches may be challenging to fill with spackle alone. For best results, purchase a wall repair patch made from wire mesh. Cut the patch to fit over the hole, then use the spackle to hold it in place. Apply the spackle over the patch as you would for a smaller hole.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

How long it takes to repair a ceiling depends on the extent of the damage. Patching a small hole might only take a few minutes, while repairing a water-damaged section of the ceiling could take hours. If there are structural issues, expect your ceiling repair to take several days or longer.
