Affordable Fence is a locally owned and operated fence contractor based out of Bloomington, IN. We work with both residential and commercial customers throughout Monroe and the surrounding counties. As a licensed, bonded and insured fence contractor, there is no project we cannot handle.

"From the very first phone call to set up an estimate Affordable Fence and Gates was amazing. I had previously received an insane quote from a competitor (almost twice the cost!), that was going to take weeks to complete once started. I was disheartened to say the least, but was so happy once I spoke with AF&G. They sent someone (David) out quickly and he provided me with an estimate within a day. The estimate was more than fair, and very thorough. I appreciated all of the detail that went into the estimate (unlike the other guy) and he spent time answering my myriad of questions. Once I paid the deposit, I understood it would be 8-12 weeks before work could begin (they are understandably busy, they do such quality work!). As promised I received a call about 7 weeks later asking if the following week would work for me. They estimated 3 days to compete the job (almost 300 feet of steel fence with gates). The day of service two men (Steven and Abdon) showed up right on time. They were kind, incredibly hard working and timely! I was amazed that just the two of them could remove my old fence and install the new one in three days, but they did. They worked consistently through each day, picking up as they went and (importantly) being so patient with my neighbors barking dogs. They were also so patient with me as I walked around with family on video chat bragging about my new fence and showing them progress. Our house backs a heavily trafficked alley, and they worked extra hard one day to get the fence up so that we had more security over night. Often times people are different in front of the customer than they are in private. My neighbor spent a lot of time outside and she kept gushing about how kind and polite they were. Any time I spoke with the two gentlemen they had impeccable manners, and were just overall incredibly pleasant. None of the niceties matter if the end product isn’t good. But my fence and gates are AMAZING. I didn’t know how happy a well made fence could make me! It is a strong fence, not going anywhere. The gates swing perfectly, and lock securely. I really could not be happier and I highly recommend that anyone looking for an affordable fence or gate not look any further. Give them a call today!"

Cowboy's Consolidated Services (C.C.S.) in Martinsville, Indiana services all of Central Indiana's home and business General Contracting needs. We are a local, family & disabled veteran owned & operated business. We believe in top quality work and 100% customer satisfaction. Top quality. To some that sounds expensive. But, it doesn't have to be, as founder Mike Lyle realized in 2008. He noticed that every construction service he worked for was always up charging materials and cutting corners. Profit was #1. He realized that this was not the way to go, so he struck out on his own. He determined the job was going to be done right, by qualified pros, at a fair price. So that's exactly what we do, from electrical & plumbing service charges (often 20% less than competitors) to not charging a penny more than we pay for materials. Our pros are drug screened & background checked, have verified experience or participate in a structured apprenticeship which includes classroom and on the job training. All our pros (including our office staff) take continuing education courses for their trade. We are affiliated with the PDCA (Painting & Decorating Contractors of America, NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) and others. We are insured and licensed, and we can provide as many references as you need. We back our work by conducting a walk through of the finished project with each client prior to final payment, for painting & coatings we have a 30 day free touch up and we warranty the labor on each project which is transferable. Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. We offer seasonal specials as well as our year round senior, public safety, and military/veteran discounts.

"He never shows up at the time he states. When he leaves for supplies it can take hours for him to return and blames it on other people at the store. Fails to provide receipts to show actual amount spent on materials. Constantly ask for money for gas. When you point out things that he did that needs corrected he states such and such is the reason it’s that way; for instance he repaired part of the floor by my door cut the bored crooked and said it was the way my floor tiles were that made it look that way, that was not the case. He also drinks on the job. My doors are not in straight, pointed out and he said they were straight. The ramp on my deck need more support and he told me he would do it but did not. He also needed an extra beam on the ramp hand rail but said it did not need it. I told him not to come back and my husband and brother are having to fix his mess ups. I know we over paid him for materials; my husband works at Lowe’s (where he bought the stuff) and knows how much all of it would cost."

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

When making this decision, three essential factors come into play. For budget-conscious individuals, swing gates are the more economical choice. Despite the possibility of both gate types having similar dimensions, many types of sliding gates demand a more intricate opening mechanism and additional components, requiring electrical work for motors and signaling remotes, resulting in higher installation costs.

The obvious disadvantage of an automatic gate is that it runs on electricity. If the power goes out, it won’t open or close unless there’s a manual override. Many homeowners will need a backup generator so they don’t get stuck on either side of the gate, particularly when looking to park a vehicle. Automatic gates are also much more complicated than manual gates, with tech-heavy components that make them more expensive to repair.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

If you only use your gate as a pedestrian, walking through without a vehicle, you’re fine to stick with a single fence gate. If your fence opening needs to accommodate vehicles of any kind, from cars to trucks to 4-wheelers, then a double fence gate will suit the space much better and give you more freedom.

While entryways are seldom added to a house to increase the sale price, they are commonly constructed to increase the livability and enjoyment of a home. So, while they aren’t necessary, they do make for a more comfortable and luxurious-feeling home. Entryways are most valuable in areas of extreme heat, cold, or rain, as the space between the living area and the outdoors helps keep the outdoors outside. Plus, snow, wet boots, and mud are all corralled into one space that’s easy to clean.
