"From initial contact to completion of work, Allied Asphalt performed as expected. Removal of old driveway asphalt commenced on schedule and the entire project which, included 10% widening of the drive, was completed by early afternoon. The work crew was hard-working and enthusiastic yet careful to avoid damaging adjacent lawn areas, concrete garage apron, and front sidewalk. Edges of the drive were nicely tapered and the ends of the drive now smoothly transition from the newly-paved street into the driveway and from the driveway onto garage apron."

"Excellent as usual! This is the second time we have used Mikes Maintenance and Lawncare for landscaping work. Last year they did a great job in our backyard and this year we were excited to work with them again in our front yard. We have received compliments from family, friends and neighbors on how it looks. Highly recommend and can't find a better deal."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Compared to a 10x20 concrete driveway costing between $800 and $3,000, a resin bound driveway of the same size costing $3,900 to $4,000 is the more expensive option. However, the cost still makes resin a cheaper option compared to a 10x20 paver driveway costing an average of $12,000.

Yes, recycled asphalt driveway costs can be substantially lower than new asphalt. With new asphalt costing between $90 and $190 per ton, this option can cost as much as 10 times more than laying down asphalt millings.

If pavers are uneven but not sunken, lift the affected bricks and check the bedding sand underneath. In many cases, simply smoothing out or adjusting the sand is enough to level them. Add or remove small amounts as needed, then press the pavers back into place and tap them with a mallet until they sit evenly with the surrounding surface.

You’ll first need to install a base underneath your pavers for extra stability and drainage. Otherwise, the pavers can sink into the ground, and you’ll have to reinstall them. Use a base gravel layer of 4 to 6 inches for walkways and 10 to 12 inches for driveways. Compact your gravel layer every 2 to 4 inches so it’s nice and solid. After you install your gravel base, apply a 1-inch layer of sand on top.

You can pour concrete over asphalt if it’s in good condition, thick, stable, and well-compacted. Concrete is more durable than asphalt and can extend the lifetime of your driveway without having to pay frequent asphalt driveway repair costs or replace it completely.

But this is best reserved as a temporary solution based on budget restraints, as asphalt requires more frequent repairs and assessments than concrete. Once that concrete top is poured, it’ll be harder to accurately understand what’s happening beneath that layer, which could lead to more issues.
