"We have a 1955 home with the original fence in the back courtyard. The fence was in bad, rusty, falling apart condition. We had some companies come out and try to talk us in to putting in an aluminum replacement, but we wanted iron. One company came out and just didn't call us back. Then we found Above The Rest Construction. Shannon came out and told us how great our fence was and understood it would be better to keep the original. He and his crew were excellent. The picture attached to this review is the after shot of that fence. Imaging that same fence with a splitting, rusty, "better get your tetanus shot before you touch that fence" look - and it was worse than you are imagining. Shannon gave us an estimate, took the fence down, brought them back after powder coating them and he fixed the fence gate that was not able to be used before as well. The fence was installed over 6 months ago and it still looks amazing. This company is great and I recommend them for your fencing needs!"

Posts for a horizontal fence should be no more than 6 feet apart. Wood pickets are not as strong when mounted horizontally as when mounted vertically. As such, the fence panels on a horizontal fence can’t cover the same span between posts as a vertical fence can. When comparing them side by side, horizontal fences cost more than vertical fences but they do tend to be more durable. On the other hand, horizontal fences may not always make the best privacy fences since the rails could have slight gaps.
