Everything went well, I am happy with the replacement gates and fencing. All the Glidden employees were pleasant and informative. Glidden Fence Co. was one of the few companies willing to take on a small project like mine.

The last week of December 2015 I hired Glidden fence to replace our old fence. They came out around January 6, 2016 and started removing the old fence. They did not call me or come to the door to say they were there. I was awakened by the noise outside and I went out and asked them about the temporary fence they were supposed to put up so my dogs would not get out. We have a double doggie door system that allows the dogs to go in and out whenever they wanted to. My dogs were 3 houses down by then. The foreperson said they would put the temporary fence up when they were done removing the old fence because it was easier to do that. So, after retrieving the dogs I locked the doggie door so they could not go out. They set the posts that day and came back and finished the fence a few days later. We had a downspout that went through the fence and they did not cut it in. I called and they were out the next day and cut the downspout in. A few days later my 11-lb Schnauzer got out through the fence. There was a large gap under the downspout and I put two granite pavers in the hole. On January 28, 2016 while my husband and I were at dinner and then at PetSmart both my 11-lb and my 21-lb Schnauzers got out through the fence. A neighbor brought one of them home but Benji the 21-lb Schnauzer would not come to her. I found him dead on the side of the road about 5 minutes later. My husband and sister tried to see where they got out but it was dark outside and ground behind the fence is steep and overgrown in places. I sent Alexis at Glidden Fence the following e-mail: “Fence & Dogs Hxxxx Sxxxxxxxxx [email protected] 28 at 8:27 PMAlexis, I hired your company to replace my fence because it was old and rotting and my dog got under it twice. My 21-lb. dog never got out under the fence until tonight. The smaller dog got out the other day and I put a granite paver in the hole directly beneath the drain that was cut in. I now only have one dog because they both got out tonight and I only got one back alive. I am extremely upset to have found my Benji dead on the side of the road. He never got out via the fence before. They did not dig their way out there are just huge gaps under the fence. I need to have the fence put in so that my dog cannot get out. Please call me. Hxxxx Sxxxxxxxxx xxx-1404” My Benji was struck by a car and killed that night. He had NEVER ever gotten out of our fence before. Not once in his 9 years. The next day my sister and husband walked the fence, there were many gaps under the fence. But THERE WAS ONE 6" WIDE BOARD THAT ONLY HAD ONE NAIL IN THE TOP. The enclosed area around the pool equipment had huge gaps under the fence. The foreperson later said they didn't think the dogs would be in there so they left larger gaps. When we work on the pool equipment the dogs can and go in there. My husband spoke (I was still extremely distraught or I would have called) to Alexis at Glidden Fence the next morning and told her about the board only having one nail in the top and she said "they had to have gotten out through the gate". My husband said if they did they closed the gate behind them (the gate is visible the instant you pull into our drive and it was not open when we arrived home. The gate had never been opened since they installed it. ALEXIS also told him “A DOG WOULD NOT FIT THROUGH ONE BOARD.” Glidden Fence came out a few days later and replaced 72 boards. Glidden Fence is directly responsible of my Benji’s death. GLIDDEN FENCE KILLED MY BELOVED BENJI BABY. Thank God for the invisible Fence Co. of Central Indiana. I called them at 8:00 am on January 29, 2016 and asked them if they could put their system around the outside of our house. They came out around noon on Friday Jan 29, 2016 and installed the Invisible Fence around the house. They did this for me as an emergency install. It was temporarily laid on top of the ground since the ground was frozen. We already had the invisible fence inside the house to keep the kids from running out the front door and going down the stairs to the lower level of our house. Yes, it has taken me 20 months to finish and publish this review. This is extremely painful for me even today. I would have posted in on a huge billboard but I could not afford that. I sent Glidden fence the following text on Wednesday January 25, 1:55 PM 2016 along with his picture and the pictures of the fence. " My beautiful baby boy has been dead for a year this Saturday the 28th. Your company was/is directly responsible for his death because you did not nail one board down. Indiana may consider him property but he was my baby boy and I miss him terribly." of course I didn't hear anything from Glidden. I later found out they do not get text messages. This summer 20127 after my husband passed I was outside pulling weeds in the back yard and when I went around the back of the fence for the 1st time in years. I observed that dirt had been pushed up against the fence to fill gaps in the fence. This area of our yard is 6-8ft lower than the deck where the loose board was. I called Glidden Fence (*67 the number so my name would not show) again speaking with Alexis I calmly asked what her company would do if a fence was too high and had large gaps under it and she (not recognizing me or my voice) said they would lower the boards. I then asked her why they shoved dirt up against my fence then. I then revealed myself and Alexis said " we would not have done that you must have" and that they had been in business for 40 years. I asked her how many other dogs had gotten out because of their negligence and then I hung up.

The initial contact and set up with Glidden went really well and worked with us while we were waiting on getting approval for the fence from our HOA. However, during the installation, the crew hit our ATT fiber line as they dug right where the utility had been marked. Glidden said they contacted ATT and came out to take a look and any cost incurred would be covered by them. When I called ATT they said the ticket number Glidden provided didn't exist so I had to arrange a new call and take time off work. ATT determined they needed to run a new line around our home and they have to come back out and bury the line. I had to follow up several times with the Glidden office to get some more details about the cut. I asked to speak with a manager and I was told to contact Jeff in sales. I explained my situation to him and when I asked if we would get some sort of compensation since our yard now has to be dug up, he said he would ask his boss and get back with me but also told me that they actually have a 4 ft clearance AROUND a utility mark that they aren't responsible for. Fast forward 3 days with no word and I reached out to the office again. I was told there was no additional discount provided and the same explanation of a 4 ft clearance around a utility wasn't their fault. The product itself was installed quickly but wish extra time was taken to avoid the debacle of having our yard torn up.

We received several quotes and although the prices were comparable, Glidden offered MORE at that price than it's competitors (hauling away dirt, completing the project sooner, etc.) They worked quickly and made minimal mess while completing this project. They left the yard in great shape and the staff we worked with was friendly and did their absolute best to get the ball rolling, even though we had a lot of rain around the time we signed our contract. It was a pleasure working with them!

Fence was completed, but part of it was to have a gate they didn't install. They will install it at an additional cost. Very difficult to communicate with with the supervisor and estimator Jeff. Was promised a board foot discount if ordered before July 7. The final bill did not reflect that discount. The installer laid a black metal gate on my front lawn and it burned my grass. Jeff's answer is that it will come back, but if not, they will throw a few grains of grass seed on it.

An estimate was given; an area was measured off; posts were set in; and a fence was installed in about three weeks. We asked for the dirt excavated to be left, which it was, and the area was left cleaned and neat. The fence was just what we ordered. A slight adjustment in the slope of the gate was needed and was done just three days after we requested(after a holiday weekend). The entire crew was very friendly, professional and a pleasure to work with. The young lady we spoke to on the phone was extremely friendly and helpful in all our dealings. We would definitely use them again and recommend the company to friends and family.

I called them, and I would use them again in a heartbeat. They were wonderful. I called, and they told me they would send someone out to a**** the situation. So when they sent him out, he said something about repairing the area for me that needed repaired. I asked if the entire fence needed replaced, and he said no and that he would take care of just the area that needed it. One morning I came out, and they were out there repairing! They did an excellent job.

Have been doing business with Glidden for over 15 years. We know they are expensive, but at least they would do the work contracted for. This time we had a quote that was quite extensive, but agreed to all that was on the quote at the price quoted. After two attempts to get each part of the quoted completed they told us they were done and would not finish the job. They had replaced incorrect boards, but told us the since they had replaced a board, even if the it wasn't the correct board, we had received the work and they would not replace the board that was specified on the contract. Unbelievable! They refused to complete the job as per the contract.

Not great. They took our money quickly, but did not show up when they said they would to begin work on the fence. They never called with updates on timing. We had to contact them to find out what their plan was to complete. Even once completed, we never got to inspect it with them, and after the fact, had to go back around and nail boards onto the posts more securely ourselves. Would not recommend to others purely for the sake of you have no peace of mind throughout their process that your needs will be satisfactorily met.

We were originally told the work was scheduled for the week after Christmas. I understand the need to allow for weather delays, but we were never contacted to let us know about new dates; we always had to call. Calls were slow to be returned, if at all, and the people answering the phone, with the exception of Alexis, were not very professional. Finally, workers showed up, unannounced (never even knocked on the door) and took out the old fence Jan. 19th, and set the posts for the new fence, which they said would be installed on the following Monday. Nobody showed up on Mon or Tues and a call to the office Tuesday resulted in my being told that they had no idea when the fence would be completed! Unbelievable and unacceptable, but they seemed to indicate that that was the way they operated, and they would get it done when they got it done. The next day, it was, in fact, completed. No phone call, no notification; the workers never let us know of either their arrival or their departure; very unprofessional. By the way, our neighbors, who had severe fence damage due to the fall storms, had numerous calls into Glidden for an estimate, and they never contacted them at all, despite the obvious need for their fences needing repair/replacement RIGHT NEXT DOOR. I also needed another estimate for additional fence work, and despite over a dozen requests for an estimate, or at least a return phone call, never got it until after this job was completed. I specifically requested a different salesman from the guy who did this job, since he obviously wasn't interested, so they scheduled another sales rep. Who shows up? The original guy! Sorry to have wasted his time! The fence itself looks great, and their price did beat all of the other companies by a fair margin. One company wanted to charge a $1,000 trip charge! (Where were they coming from...Idaho?) But Glidden Fence was very unprofessional with handling their phone calls and/or responses and their scheduling procedures leave a lot to be desired. No recommendation here.

Since we live in a subdivision, we had to get approval from our homeowner's association on the type of fence we wanted to install. This is not a short process. The best case scenario is getting approved in less than a month. Usually it can take a month or more. I received my estimates in April and I was not prompt on submitting the request to the homeowner's association so that was my fault. I received approval at the beginning of July. Glidden said that they could start the week of July 18th and they did. We had our posts installed that week. Then we waited and during that time we went on a quick vacation. Approximately 2 weeks after the post installation, I called Glidden to inquire how much longer it would be to complete the job. I was told that they were waiting on the wood and they would be out early the next week and gave me the dates. They did not show up on those dates so I called again. The wood had finally arrived and they did come out the next day to install the fence. This process took 4 weeks. I must say, the fence is beautiful! I would hope that you would agree. I attached some photos. The end result did give this company an A. I was not happy about the lack of communication, but one time when I called I was told that I was free to call them at any time if I was concerned about anything. Maybe they should tell their customers that put deposits down that it would be best if we called them if something isn't going to plan? A little more organization in this area would really help! I didn't just go with the other companies because of price when I decided on Glidden. I went with Glidden also because of how they did their gates on this style of fence. I liked it better. I attached pictures, too! This is not a fence you see a whole lot of so I was apprehensive on how it would turn out. Also, you hardly notice the wire mesh that keeps my dog in the yard and just focus on the fence.

Very pleased overall. The price was the best we found, and Glidden was able to get out and do the job much quicker than other contractors. We made some small adjustments to the original design and communicating with them was quick and easy. Highly recommended, and the price was thousands cheaper than Bullseye!

Fence is nice. Poor customer service and business practices. We live in a fairly new neighborhood. We have had neighbors ask about who we used. We will not recommend them and will share our experience with anyone who asks.
Response from Glidden Fence Co Inc
"I am surprised to see this review. We were out early last week to replace the panels with the signs. All fence companies place signs on their newly installed fences, so I am not sure why they were surprised that we did. Because the panels have been replaced so that there are not any signs nor drill holes in the fencing, I am requesting that the review be updated to reflect the end result."

It went quite well. They really worked with us about getting the time-table right. (Our Home Owners Association took a long time approving the fence.) My only qualifier regarding workmanship is the number of large splinters around the fence gates. It would have been nice if they would have offered to sand around the area that people will be touching. Overall, they were speedy and efficient!

Developer hired Glidden to install fencing around 3 new properties approximately April/May 2015.

I now own one of the properties and noticed that 9 carriage bolts and nuts were missing from the fence assembly.

I contacted Glidden a few weeks ago and asked if I could come to their place of business and pick up some bolts and that I would install them myself. I talked to a woman that said she would have to check with someone and would call me back. I never received a response.

So, after a few weeks, I called Glidden again to ask if I could get the bolts, explaining that they were evidently missed during installation. The women to whom I spoke "assured me" that they did NOT miss the bolts during installation. She said they must have been stolen off of the fence. When I disagreed, and said I doubt that my immediate neighbors stole them, she made a sarcastic reply that it was possible there were others in the area that could potentially have stolen them.  In any event I said I don't want to argue the point. I am just trying to find the simplest and least expensive way to get 9 black bolts. She said she would have to check with someone and get back to me.

She called back the next day and said they could send me a bag of bolts (not just 9) and it would cost $35! We argued whether that was appropriate. I asked the name of her boss so that I could talk to him/her and she replied, "That isn't going to happen."

In the end, they might do fine work.  But I would avoid using a company with the lack of responsiveness, customer service, unprofessionalism and arrogance I experienced over a handful of bolts. I can only imagine the treatment a customer would receive if it were a major issue.

In the end, I walked in off the street to K&K Fence on Brookville Rd. and they were very helpful.
