"Erie Home Basement Solutions was a pleasure to work with. Everyone was on time, and always polite and courteous throughout this process. This is extremely hard work and they continued to always have a smile on their face and answer any questions I had. They worked diligently to complete the project on time and fulfilled all aspects of the contract. Actually, they went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with their service, which is unusual in todayâ s work culture. I would highly recommend this company for your basement waterproofing needs."

"I wanted to finish a basement on a house which had some cracks that were leaking during a heavy rain. I got bids from the major basement waterproofing companies in town and they all wanted to install a waterproofing system which involved jacking up the floor around the perimeter of the basement slab, installing piping to the sump pump to get any water that might seep into the basement and sealing the cracks. They were all in the $4k-$6k range. I just assumed this was the only option until I spoke with Chris.
When he was there I told him the other bids were out of my budget. He said that instead of installing a complete waterproofing system, he could just seal all the cracks and install panels to have any incidental water run under the slab. He said it would eventually work its way over to the sump pump anyway without installing the entire system. I liked this idea much better.
He sealed and waterproofed all the cracks in one day, patched the concrete and cleaned up nicely. The cracks did not leak anymore even after several heavy rains. He included a lifetime transferrable warranty on all the cracks he waterproofed. He also sealed some other cracks that could not be waterproofed because of the direction they were in at no extra charge although he couldn't include them in the warranty. They also did not leak.
After this experience, I've used Chris several times for basement waterproofing and concrete repair on other houses. He always does a professional job at a reasonable price.

"They were just a tad late, but my house is in the country and can be hard to find. They put plastic on my stairs and sun room leading to the basement, preventing mess. They were quick, double checked exactly what they were supposed to be doing via the quote I had discussed with Kenny Sanders earlier that week. They filled in the old sump pump slot with some broken concrete, even though that was not on the quote. They also swept and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. I received another quote for waterproofing the basement. I had gotten many quotes for this already from other vendors and their bid was significantly less than anyone else's. This is my first house and I bought in not even a year before I needed to get all this work done. I have now scheduled them for the waterproofing and I will also give them a review on how they do with that. But so far I would defiantly recommend them, as a young women I did not feel like they were taking advantage of me or trying to get more money out of me than what they actually need to get the job done right.

"I have an old house with part crawlspace and part basement. So, it didn't fit the waterproofing "system" some of the other companies wanted to sell me. Kyle suggested a fix that fit the specific water intrusion problem for my old house, and replaced the sump pump. This cost far less than rebuilding my basement to fit a "system". Crossroads Foundation Repair's communication and recordkeeping is very clear and professional. I would recommend this company without hesitation."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Some disadvantages of crawl spaces are mostly regarding the air itself—moisture build-up and poor ventilation, which can cause problems both in the house and underneath it, even damaging the foundation itself. Crawl spaces are difficult to access and often invite unwanted pests during the hot summer months and the cold winter ones. These hard-to-seal spaces are also susceptible to water damage during periods of heavy rain or melting snow.

The most expensive foundation repair method is to install helical piers. Helical piers are a type of steel pier used to support sinking foundations in areas with poor soil conditions or deep bedrock. This foundation repair method can cost up to $3,000 per pier, including labor, because of its material and labor-intensive installation process. Total foundation repair costs can easily reach over $20,000 using this method.

You should take care of any sign of water in your basement, whether it’s dampness after heavy rain or puddles of water on the floor. Besides potentially causing a health hazard, the moisture can damage your home’s structure and foundation. Furthermore, mold can grow quickly and spread throughout the rest of your home. With mold remediation costs ranging between $1,200 and $3,400, it’s best to avoid mold issues by fixing the leak.

Yes, it is possible to over-dehumidify a house by removing too much moisture from the air. This can create an overly dry environment that negatively affects those with respiratory or skin issues, and may cause your skin, hair, and sinuses to feel dry. However, this is unlikely to happen with most modern dehumidifiers, as they are equipped with moisture sensors and adjustable settings. These features allow the unit to pause automatically when the desired humidity level is reached, preventing the air from becoming uncomfortably dry. In contrast, older or more basic dehumidifiers left running for too long could potentially over-dry the air. To avoid this, aim for a balance between removing excess moisture and maintaining a comfortable environment. You can often monitor your home's humidity levels using a modern thermostat for guidance.

Topical sealers adhere to the surface of concrete to create a protective layer. In many cases, this is all you need for concrete that sees light to moderate traffic, such as your basement. Penetrating sealers, on the other hand, bond with the free lime in the top layer of concrete to form calcium silicate, which prevents liquid from passing through. This type of sealer protects the surface from water, oil, and gasoline spills.
