"We had an insane amount of rain one evening and noticed our yard by the septic was flooding. We had just moved in a few months beforehand and have never had a septic. So, we paniced! I called Shanksters that night around midnight once we started hearing strange gurglings from our sinks and toilets. The friendly operator assured me we would be fine until morning so we didn't have to pay extra for middle of the night emergency call. That was nice of her, we thought.
They arrived frst thing in the morning. Deduced we needed a new pump. So they pumpeed out tank to avoid any overflowing while the pump wasn't running. They told us they had a bunch of calls due to the rain, so they went to town to get apump and on a couple of more calls (fine with us..). They came back that afternoon and replaced the pump. I paid them and left. They left me the brochure for the pump, I was looking it over, and looked it up online. It was about $100. Pumping the septic was $300. Something smelled fishy and I felt I had overpaid for their services. So, I called them and said as much.  Also, stange gurugling was still happening. So, they came back out, and we found we had yet another septic tank. The guy apologised for the over pricing (I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose) and offered to pump our other tank out at no extra charge. I thought that sounded fair. I'm not against anybody making a profit, but that was just a bit much. I'm glad that I called and expressed my displeasure. They were all very nice. I would hire them again, but will definatly be aware of pricing next time!!

"I just pay $75 you never know who's going to come out. They do everything electrical. Just about everything is covered except the septic tank. I had an air conditioner replaced. It went great, all I had to do was pay for the freon. He didn't charge e more than what was needed."

"Had the service line from our house to the septic (under the driveway) replaced as it had pulled away from the tank (which we later found was due to the original installer not doing it right). They removed the concrete, replaced the service line and replaced the concrete after. They came out quick for a quote, used a camera to inspect the line (which was nearly half of the cost of all other quotes to run a camera) and found the damaged pipe. Was put on their schedule quick (luckily they had an opening so soon) and they performed quality work. Communication was great from start to end. I can't say enough good things about this company. A+ Service"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

To prevent septic tank problems, save on repair costs, and keep your home running smoothly, it's essential to perform regular maintenance. Have your septic system inspected by a professional every one to three years, or annually if possible, to spot potential issues before they develop. You should also have your tank pumped every three to five years, or more frequently if recommended by a professional based on your household's usage. Additionally, be mindful of what goes into your system. Avoid flushing items like paper towels, wet wipes, and feminine hygiene products. Do not dispose of other inappropriate substances, and try to avoid excessive water usage at a single time.

It only takes a few days for a septic tank to fill with water after a pro has pumped it. This is completely normal, and the water is a vital part of your septic system’s wastewater treatment process. The water that fills your tank days after pumping is not the same as the tank being filled with waste. You shouldn’t have to pump your septic system more than once every three to five years unless you have a tank that’s too small for your home’s water output or there’s a problem with your leach field.

Most homeowners know there’s a septic system problem when they can smell one. However, this isn’t exactly a scientific deduction method. Consider some of the other signs: standing water or constantly damp earth in the drainage area, toilets and sinks that won’t drain or frequently back up, and loud plumbing. You really need to be on top of routine maintenance with septic systems in order to avoid such unpleasant symptoms of a septic issue.

Consider site conditions, soil type, required capacity, and system designs compatible with environmental protection regulations.

Yes, it is possible to pump a septic tank too frequently. The ideal pumping schedule varies based on the tank's capacity, household size, and water usage. Pumping the septic tank more often than recommended can cause the beneficial bacteria to leach into the drain field, leading to an imbalance and a build-up of solid waste.
