"They came within two or three days of hiring them and they did a great job. Ended up having two trees cut down instead of one so that I wouldn’t have to have them back in a couple years."

Small jobs welcome

"Had problems showing up on time. Had to put on vinyl siding but struggled to get it right. Had to repaint inside wall 3 times, had to re-mud twice. Tried really hard to do a good job and kept coming back until I was satisfied. Brought 3 year old son to the job (mother was present but would have gotten more done without having to watch him). Very pleasant and eager to please but not sure of their experience level."

"Snyder did an excellent job. I had 14 big pine trees and a two maple trees cut down. They did the job in two days. Cleaned everything up. Some of the maple I wanted to keep for firewood. They cut it to length and stacked it at the back of my yard without me even asking. A few years ago I had a maple cut down by a different company. The wood they left me for firewood was 3-5 foot long and thrown into a pile right beside where they cut the tree down. I had to then cut it to length and stack it myself. I would definitely recommend Snyder Tree Service. Thanks Chase Snyder for the excellent job."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Trimming a tree can take anywhere from just two hours to a full day, depending on the age of the tree, the number of trees, and the species. Young trees are generally easier to trim, as their branches are often thinner in diameter and easier to reach compared to mature trees. They also tend to be healthier. If you haven’t trimmed your trees before or it’s been a while, the process could take even longer.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.
