"It has been our pleasure to have Tillman Carpentry complete our privacy fence project! Zachery helped us work within our budget, providing a very fair quote. Their great, hard-working crew did a top notch job, completing our 80' fence in one day. We are very pleased with the end result and highly recommend Tillman Carpentry!"

"We had our chimney tuck pointed and a roof put on the house. The old roof wasn’t torn down this it wasn’t in real bad shape and there was only one layer on. The work was all done in one day and everything was cleaned up when they left."

"Great company to work with. I had seamless gutters and all the fascia boards and trim, capped. The project manager, Devan, answered all my questions and let me know what to expect. Aaron, who lead the crew doing the work, was very professional. Other than how wonderful my house looks now, they left no trace of being here. The workmanship is spot on! I would recommend them highly!"

"After so many negative experiences with people claiming to be "professionals" I contacted Mr Whitingham at Smart Dova's Home Renovation to install several blinds.  After my request for a quote he responded with a return call within minutes.  He came right over. We agreed on a price. He returned when promised and completed the job.  I was very happy with the outcome, so when I wanted to get estimates for a very large renovation, I again called Smart Dova. He gave me a detailed estimate, and a start date. When he began the demolition, he brought a large crew. For every phase: demolition, reframing, insulation installation, the necessary wiring, installation of fixtures, drywall, painting, and refinishing the fireplace and the hardwood floors, he had an appropriate crew for the work.  He discussed each phase with me. Relative to the amount of work, the entire project was completed in a very reasonable time frame. He pays attention to every aspect of each room. He even completed many deta"

"Mike Jentel did an outstanding job of repairing and painting our kitchen ceiling that had received water damage from water leaking from the upstairs bathroom. He used plastic sheets to protect the kitchen area and did an excellent clean up job. He drove to the paint shop to get the exact color paint needed. This was fine service for a very reasonable cost."

"We hired Mr. Handyman for drywall and tile work in our bathroom update, and the job came out great. He was professional, respectful of our space, and completed the work in a timely manner. The finished drywall looks smoothed, and the tile work is solid and well done. Overall, a very good experience."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

Costs depend on furniture type, size, complexity, and whether additional modifications are needed.
