"Andy did a great job. He is easy to work with and meticulous about his work. Mine was a small job, but Andy treated it with the same kind of attention one would expect with a much bigger initiative. I definitely recommend him."

"I'll start by saying that we had a "small Drywall Job" that turned into much more! Our house needed to have ceiling drywall removed, replaced and spanish laced. Marty was very prompt with getting the bid together with a reasonable price. He did an excellent job communicating the entire process before hand, then kept us informed as the project was progressing. The wife and I had been wanting to do away with the dated textured walls and Marty was there to save us money by informing us that he could skim coat the walls vs replacing drywall, so we did it. Also, decided that we would like for him to paint the interior of the house. Marty is definitely a master of the craft, as I could never do what he did in the 2 week time frame. Also, had him paint one our cabinets, as a tester for our next phase of remodeling...which he will be hired for. If your looking for a HARDWORKING, DEPENDABLE, OPEN AND HONEST PERSON that is TRUE DRYWALL/PAINTING PROFESSIONAL at what he does....MARTY IS YOUR GUY! I would have posted some before and afters, but dont see a section for that,,,ANGI."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.
