I am a 27 years old self employed entrepreneur. That wants to help give back to the community with the best prices, and the greatest quality of fencing/decks around. I know and understand that I don’t have much of a portfolio. However, please don’t let that steer you away, as myself and my partner have plenty of experience in these types of construction. I myself worked for a company that done cell tower sites (fencing) and now I’m ready to step out on my own. I have built many decks in the past, and I can assure to anyone that you will get great quality work. All of the work that comes through our company is warrantied for 1 year. This covers normal damage/lumber defects, staining not upholding for the length of time, or it just doesn’t uphold our customers standards (to a certain extent). "Horrible experience. Botched job!! Day one after construction I asked someone to please come look at the job!! Steve blew me off until time to collect final payment. Then tried to tell me it was acceptable job. After two attempts to fix some of the issues. We felt defeated. Then Don Harr called , ask about how it went. He immediately came out to look, after looking the problem was reveled, First, the OSB board was installed wrong, which made everything not line up correctly. He also stated that he had recommended another installer to do our job, He admitting to the fact that Steve was too busy and changed what he had proposed for our job. At that point we threw our hand up ?? What were we to do tear it all off and start over ??? I was lead to believe that Steve was in charge, latter found out we should have called Don from day one. Don was the only truthful one if the bunch!! Even the Window and Gutter installer’s called Steve about the job after they saw the condition ."

You should wait three to six months after you buy it to paint pressure-treated wood. It needs time to dry from the chemicals applied to it. The paint will not adhere to the treated wood as well if it’s still wet from chemicals. To test the wooden boards, drip water onto them. If the wood absorbs the water, it’s ready for painting. If the water beads up, it’s not dry enough to paint yet. You can build your deck or fence while the treated wood is still wet, but you’ll need to paint it later.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Both sealing and staining can help make your deck look better almost immediately. However, deck stain may not contain waterproofing components, leaving the surface vulnerable to moisture damage. To protect your deck from winter weather, apply a sealer or a stain-and-sealer combination product.
