"Highly recommend Jordon! Very professional, outgoing personality, trustworthy, and honest! He built a gazebo for us that said it needed 3/4 people to build. Kept us updated throughout the process as we was working while we was and would even reach out if he fount a dent, scratch, etc to see if we would like it to get replaced before it assembled."

"I had an old oak coffee table that was in bad shape cosmetically. I kept it in the closet and used it to stack towels on and put my shoes under it. It was my husband's mother's table and he wanted to keep it. I decided to have it refinished and put it to use somewhere, maybe in the bedroom. Mr. Hovey contacted me within 20 minutes of my submission to Home Advisors, came to my house 30 minutes after that and left with my table. Within a week he had it back in my home, looking like a new table. It isn't in the bedroom, by the way. It turned out so pretty that we put it behind the love seat with a bouquet of flowers and a pretty wooden box on it. It is the first thing you see when you come in the front door!"

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

The best way to help a family member or friend declutter their home is to hire a professional organizer or cleaner to do it for them. However, you can also help them make a plan to tackle the clutter. Sit down with them and sort through the items, making piles of what to keep, toss, and donate. Focus on one area at a time to avoid overwhelming them. If they have trouble letting go of some items, ask them when they last used each item, what its purpose is, and whether it has sentimental value. The answers to these questions can help you advise them on handling clutter.

Clean regularly, avoid overloading shelves, and address scratches or dents promptly.

Wood can appear blotchy after staining due to uneven absorption, which happens when the wood has varying grain density. The denser the grain, the less the stain will be absorbed. This can cause the wood to appear uneven in color, with some areas darker than others.

To prevent this issue, apply a wood conditioner before staining. Wood conditioners help to equalize the absorption of the stain, resulting in a more even finish. There are many different types of wood conditioners available, so be sure to choose one that is appropriate for the type of wood you are staining.

Yes. A good mixture to condition your leather is made from one tablespoon of natural baby soap, a splash of vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Mix these ingredients in a bowl and use a microfiber cloth to rub it into the leather in small circles.

You can apply the same technique with a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts linseed oil. Once you’ve applied this to leather with a cloth, let it sit for 10 minutes before buffing with a small cloth.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.
