"The job was done quickly and efficiently. I will use them for any projects I need to be done in the future. If it is something that they can work with, that is. So far, the price that I was quoted for this project was absolutely the best that I had been quoted by anyone else. Jose, was in and out in about 15 minutes with this project. Although it was nothing major he still got it finished quickly."

"In addition to replacing a 20 year old builder-grade deck, Paul built an addition to the deck and a 4-board fence with mesh backing around the perimeter of our property. The materials he used were high quality. His craftsmanship and attention to detail went beyond my expectations. He was punctual and met the timeline we both agreed to. His communication was always professional and he kept me up to date as the project went along. I highly recommend Paul and would not hesitate to use his services again in the future."

"If trustworthiness and communication are very important to you then Greg is your guy! Our basement took a couple of months to complete. During the process, no more than 2 days went by that Greg wasn't in touch with me and any question I had he responded within minutes if not immediately! (Unlike others that take days to respond if they even respond at all) We are happy with how our basement turned out and we are working with him now on our kitchen reno and then after that we will have him build a garage for us."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

If you’re just replacing a few broken or damaged joists, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300 per joist. However, a complete installation for a home or room will take into account the cost of labor, which ranges from $25 to $40 per hour. Floor joist installation for an entire room, for example, can cost between $5,000 and $10,000, depending on the room's size and the materials used.

Before hiring a carpenter, the most important thing is to make sure they are properly qualified and insured for the job. It’s more than reasonable to ask your prospective carpenter for customer references, as well as about their licensing and insurance. You should also consider choosing a carpenter that specializes in your specific project area to ensure high-quality results.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

Board and batten is a type of wainscotting that uses wider boards that are placed vertically, and it has a much more rustic aesthetic than wainscotting. Common wainscotting styles are raised-panel, flat-panel, and beadboard. Wainscotting is more intricate and will typically use more elegant, subtle trims compared to the more farmhouse-inspired boards of board and batten styles.
