"I was nervous when making a selection of who I should use to build my detached garage. After having 3 other companies come out to giving pricing I contacted Scott, Mark and the crew from Americas Best. I became fast friends with project manager Scott as he determined exactly what I wanted and gave feedback on things I had not even considered. He and Mark gave me onsite pricing I could not refuse and started the work soon after. The garage is everything I hoped for and more, when my neighbors ask who built it I’m proud to point them to Americas Best! I hope to have them build a deck for me before winter!"

"The crew (Lewis White, Chris Jones, Harold Harris, and Derel Davis) where absolute professionals. They had to endure quite unpleasant conditions to get the job done. They were courteous and expedient in the process and they ensured that they cleaned up all messes before they left. We so appreciate their work ethic."

"Mr. Mayne came as scheduled to examine the site and determined the cost for replacing the porch and steps. He described how he would also fill a crack between the porch and the walk and agreed to extend the width of the steps and to repair a crack between the steps at the side of the house. I asked about installing a rail on the steps. He replied that if I obtained the rail, he would install it. He called the next day with the amount he would charge which seemed reasonable from information we had from other sources. He said they could do the work in a week and a half. When I explained that I had not yet found a rail, he said that they could do the work and when I obtained the rail, he would come back and install it. They came at the scheduled time and did a great job removing the damaged porch and building a new one.
I was impressed with Mr. Mayne's answers to my questions and his assessment of the best option for repairing or replacing the porch.  The work was done efficiently and a concrete spill was cleaned up thouroughly.  The workers were friendly and cooperative in every way.  Mr. Mayne reiterated his willingness to install a rail when I obtained it.

"I wanted to follow up my earlier post now that the job has been completed. The work to be done, our house was built in 1968 and there was a gap between the basement wall and the foundation that needed to be filled. We also needed to encapsulate the space. We were in the process of selling our home, and this issue came up in the home inspection. As anyone who has bought or sold a home this summer knows, we found out all the contracting firms are booked solid. We offered to work with the buyer, making repairs after close via escrow, but the buyer rejected and the offer was withdrawn. We decided to go through with the repairs recommended in the inspection report, including the work listed for the crawl space before relisting. We were concerned we would end up in the same situation, unable to make repairs in the inspection report. We had already purchased our new home and were carrying two mortgage payments. Another delay to close would be expensive. As mentioned earlier, Marty from Advantage Restoration was able to inspect and provide us an estimate for the work needed within days of our call. The owner of the Advantage, Mike Bird, called me directly to work out the schedule. Advantage Restoration was booked up, but our job was a smaller one, so they were able to fit our project between other projects. The work was started at the scheduled date and was completed in 2 days, as estimated. All work was done as specified on the estimate, and the final cost matched the estimated cost. The work itself looked great. The work crew explained the work and each step in the process to completion. The final result, we relisted the house and received a new offer. After inspection, there were no remediation items listed by the buyer, including the crawl space, and we are moving straight to closing. Mission accomplished! Much thanks for Advantage Restoration for being flexible with their scheduling and performing top notch work to help sell our house."

"I was very pleased with the work performed by the Basement Wizard.  Everyone involved was very cordial and efficient.
They did a good job in fixing the crack on the basement wall, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards.   The true test came
when we have had many episodes of torrential rain and i finally am not getting any rain in the basement.

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can pour the footings for your foundation and the foundation system itself together, in which case the footing acts as the foundation. Some common examples of foundations where you might pour the footings simultaneously include floating slab foundations and monolithic slab foundations. Both lack traditional footings underneath the slab, so these foundation types are considered footings.

Most of the time, you or your contractor will spray the concrete form and framework with a release agent or oil to prevent sticking. This is common practice with wood and steel forms. For insulated concrete forms, the styrofoam formwork often remains in place after construction, so you don’t need to treat it beforehand. Foam concrete forms made out of melamine also may not need treatment beforehand, as the material naturally won’t stick to the concrete after it’s cured.

With proper installation and sealing, both poured concrete and cinder block walls can be durable options for your yard or home. Poured concrete walls do offer more durability and strength, but cinder block walls are less expensive to build and DIY. A concrete wall costs an average of $6,500.

Yes, you should hire a mason who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local mason guidelines.

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

The ideal base for concrete is even, firm, and permeable to encourage drainage. Depending on your project's weight requirements, a combination of gravel, sand, or other aggregates is best. While you can technically pour concrete over grass, dirt, or an old piece of concrete, you risk threatening the concrete's stability.
