Since 1927, Cedar Rustic Fence Co has been a pioneer in the fence manufacturing and installation business. Today, we have grown to be one of the largest residential installers of fencing in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. We are a full line manufacturer of Cedar, Vinyl, and Aluminum fencing. We offer thousands of styles of fence at competitive prices. Award winning.

"Good-They started at 9:30 and were done by 2. We just needed the back fence replaced. It seems immovable right now, and looks great. Originally we had it scheduled for a day I was off work, but the date got moved because of weather and I had to take off work. We are satisfied for the money, and they gave us what we asked for."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

The most durable metal for a fence is wrought iron. With proper care, a wrought iron fence can last for centuries. This means regular resealing to stave off rust and corrosion, especially in coastal climates with salty sea air. In these environments, chain link and corrugated fencing tend to stand up better to the elements with fewer maintenance needs.

While most homeowners aren't required to tell their neighbors that they’re putting up a fence, it's certainly a good idea to do so. Not only is it considerate to give neighbors a heads up about construction noise, but building a fence may limit your neighbors' access to their own backyards while building is taking place.

A setback is an area of space between your fence and the property line, meaning you build a fence a few inches before your neighbor’s property begins. You can build your fence on a setback—some communities recommend this—but this means a sliver of your property will be on your neighbor’s side of your fence.

The least expensive farm fence to install is actually a wire fence rather than a cow fence made of lumber. A hog wire fence can be strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair. A woven wire fence also requires less lumber than a wooden fence, reducing the overall cost of your project. However, wire fences tend not to be as aesthetically pleasing as wood fences.

Typically, you need one to two coats of stain for a fence. The number of coats you need can vary depending on the porosity of the type of wood. You can also apply an extra coat of stain if you want the color to look more saturated or to cover lap marks and patchy spots.
