"Absolutely happy! Milton was so personable and honest. His crew were very professional and cleaned up all after construction debris. I am going to have them refinish hardwood floors instead of buying new carpet!!!!"

12 years of experience

We offer all types of home improvement services. We have over 30 years combined experience and a great track record of satisfied employees.

"I contacted Brian Wieseke to work on my condos porch roof. I clearly communicated from the beginning that everything needed to match the adjoining houses. I was hoping to spend around 2k but not at all limited to that budget. He advised me to have torch down put on as the most economical route. I agreed repeating that as long as it matches everything else. He never once informed me that this was an incredibly different material. What I ended up with was this patchy, uneven mess in front of my home. His defense was he thought I wouldn’t care what the top looked like as long as the front matched. The top is still visible from the street! Among other problems were the gutter being placed below were it originally belonged. This exposed the edge of the roof so thats it was visible from ground level. He left the bolts holding the chains sticking out several inches from the roof leaving them lax and uneven. In two months he never finished the job. I had to hire another company to redo all of this despite having paid Brian for the full job minus $150 for flashing that was never put in that should have covered all the exposed wood seen in the pictures. The new company also pointed out multiple areas in the torch down that weren’t sealed properly. If I had been left with Brian’s work I would have had to replace the entire roof in a matter of years due to water damage! This has been an complete nightmare having to deal with."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.

You can use underfloor heating with most kinds of flooring. However, particularly thick carpet will create problems, since it will absorb a lot of the heat and make it difficult to feel. Also, there are some concerns that underfloor heating can dry out natural wood over time, so if you have wood flooring, get an expert opinion on whether radiant heating is appropriate.

The cost of new flooring materials depends on the type of flooring, its quality, installation method, and additional features. While some options, like solid hardwood flooring, may be more expensive than carpet initially, others, such as vinyl and laminate, offer more budget-friendly alternatives. Ultimately, the overall expense can be influenced by factors like longevity, maintenance requirements, and desired aesthetic, making it essential to consider the long-term value of each material.

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a floor. Cork flooring is certainly softer and more sound-absorbing than hardwood floors, and the two share very similar maintenance routines. That said, for some homeowners, the pristine appearance of hardwood floors may be more appealing, and they may be less prone to scratches and dents than cork flooring. Hardwood flooring also tends to be more expensive than cork flooring.

Honestly, very few things in life are 100% anything—and that rule stands when it comes to waterproof flooring, too. Options like porcelain or ceramic tile are a lot closer to 100% waterproof than tiles and planks that have a fiberboard backing, like waterproof laminate or cork flooring. In all cases, it’s a good idea to wipe up wet spills as quickly as you can after they happen in order to avoid water damage.
