"Furnace failed on Sunday, New Year's Eve, below zero temps - doesn't it figure? Found Roy's company here on Angie's List and Roy himself came to our home, found the problem and went SEVERAL extra miles (literally!) to make sure that we had heat that evening! No extra charge in spite of it being a Sunday and a holiday. We found Roy to be caring, personable and obviously knows his stuff. We will be definitely be calling Roy Rogers Heating & Air for our future HVAC needs!"

""So glad to have used Hope plumbing! Called in the morning and had my water heater working within the hour. Service was prompt and professional. Left the area cleaner than when the plumber arrived. Price was reasonable. Couldn’t have asked for more. I’m definitely team Hope for all of my plumbing needs going forward!""

"If you're looking for friendly and exceptional service for your Heating and Cooling needs, I highly recommend Armor Air! Ever since we moved into our home several years ago, we dreaded the winter dryness (our home routinely would be anywhere from 25-29% humidity in the winter, and sometimes even lower. We were constantly sick, waking up with a sore throat, and frequent nose bleeds. I saw a video on Instagram of the Armor Air team and they looked like a bunch of really nice people, so I investigated and saw how many people had great things to say about the company. We had them come out and give us a quote on a whole home humidification system, and Robert was very friendly, professional and worked with us to get a system setup for our home. A few days later, Kameron came out and installed the system and he did an awesome job! The last time we had another HVAC company come out and do work on our system, they left a giant mess, but not Kameron. You couldn't even tell he was there! Now,"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, a freon leak will persist even when your AC unit is off. The freon in the AC unit is under pressure no matter the status of the system, so it will continue to drip through the leak even when you shut off the entire unit. It will continue to leak freon until it’s completely empty.

Yes, you can run an attic fan with the AC on. In fact, you don’t have a choice with a passive attic fan. Plus, when an attic fan draws out hot air from the attic, it helps regulate the temperature of your whole home, so your AC doesn't have to work as hard.

The cost to add Freon to an AC ranges from $100 to $350. It can increase up to $600 for large AC units requiring much more coolant. The cost also depends on how much refrigerant your unit needs. If only a small amount of Freon leaked out, your cost would be on the lower side. A complete replacement of all the required refrigerant can get expensive.

AC drip pans last five to 20 years, depending on the material. Plastic AC drip pans last five to 10 years, while metal pans can last over 10 years. Plastic AC drip pans are vulnerable to cracking in response to temperature changes. Metal drip pans are prone to rusting over time, which can also lead to leaks.

Yes, running your air conditioning unit too cold can cause condensation in the air ducts and built up moisture on the air filter, resulting in a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Mold and mildew growth can irritate those with respiratory issues, so it’s best to keep your AC running at a normal temperature.
