"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

"We were very pleased with the paint job. The painters also replaced rotted wood in numerous places, and completely re-screened the back porch, and installed two brand new screen doors in that back porch. When we added a 4th color, there was no extra charge. The 2-person paint crew (Gabriele and his brother) were very professional and knowledgable, not to mention skillful in painting. Two coats everywhere, and it looks spectacular. My only negative comment is communication between the painters and the home office was sometimes not as good as it could be, but that was a minor issue."

"We hired NuLook Home Service this summer to do the following home maintenance & repairs: - Replace wood siding, fascia, and trim. - Exterior painting - Screened-porch repair including adding a knee wall and doggie door The project took over two months and we are happy with the results. Patrick provided the original estimates which were less than the final costs. Additional items were added after the work started due to wood rot and etc. However, we still paid less than what was estimated by other companies to completely replace the wood siding. We were happy with our foreman, Jimmy Rogers. He was their for the entire two months and had to work through several challenges including no-shows. He listened to our concerns and ensured our requests were met. The owner David reached out to us on a weekly basis to let us know where the project costs stood. He also checked in to ensure we were happy with the progress and if we had any questions or concerns. With all that, the experience was not perfect. There were days when Jimmy had to work by himself due to the labor shortage. There were a couple of days where we were not kept informed that no one was going to show up on a given day. Overall, we would recommend NuLook Home Service. During this period of labor shortages and rising costs, they were able to complete the job in a timely manner for a reasonable cost."

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

Some hardware or specialty window stores in your area may repair damaged screens, but it’s less time-consuming, more convenient, and potentially more affordable to hire a screen repair technician to come to your home to do the work on-site. The screen technician will have the tools and experience to get the work done the same day, and they can inspect other screens while there to help avoid repeat repair costs in the future.

Rescreening your porch can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the size of the enclosure and the amount of screen that needs replacing. If you decide to have a professional handle the rescreening, be sure to get a timeline and a cost estimate so you know how long you’ll be without the screened-in space.

Installing a basement window generally takes a few hours, assuming there are no structural issues you need to resolve first. If you’re a novice DIYer, the project could take longer; on the flip side, a licensed and trained window contractor may be able to replace multiple basement windows in the time it takes a homeowner to replace one.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.
