PK Heating and Cooling & Home Improvement is built upon a solid foundation of years of Technical Expertise. The owners and the technicians have been in the business for many years, serving the Centerville OH area.

"Complex job changing from 2 old furnaces to one fuel efficient one, and a new water heater. The job involved moving ductwork, gas line, water line for the humidifier The job took 4 days instead of 2 or 3 as planned, but same price. The guys were fun, pleasant and cleaned up well. They explained each step clearly. The price included"

"Everything went well till we got our system running. As we are no experts on any of this we follow the advice and went with what they thought it was best. We paid them well over 17K for the full system just to find out the attic room during the summer still tremendously hot and one of the rooms in the main floor is the same during the summer and cold in the winter. They came back and told us they suggested to do more insulation for the attic when they saw it themselves before and mentioned that it was ok and the other room to run a second duct. They came in for a service and wanted to add a $1K part to avoid the molding in the AC and I was like what 0:? They never schedule us to add the 2nd duct for the room even when we follow up. After 5 years I called them because our AC system is not working and they mentioned it's $130 just to come and look at it because we did't get their club membership. Never again will call them."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Depending on how much you use it, your dryer should be disinfected about every six to 12 months, especially if you see frequent buildup of lint or evidence of stains from fabric bleeding or ink.

Other signs you should sanitize your dryer more often are overheating, improper drying, excessive humidity, or if you notice a strange odor when it’s running.

In a ventless dryer, lint it collected in a lint filter found inside the door or dryer drum. Vented dryers have this same lint filter, but in a ventless dryer you’ll need to stay on top of cleaning the lint filter after every wash. This is a common best practice, regardless of your dryer vent type.

Failing to open your flue can lead to serious health hazards if you start a fire because the smoke will back up into your home. Breathing fire smoke, even in relatively small quantities, is bad for human lungs, and smoke can also irritate your nasal passages and eyes. Furthermore, smoke can cause damage to your interior fixtures and furnishings, at the very least leaving an unpleasant smoky smell for a long time. In short: If your flue isn’t open (or you’re not sure if it is or not), don’t start a fire to find out!

To optimize airflow and energy efficiency, regularly clean vents and replace air filters, schedule periodic professional duct inspections, and seal any visible leaks. Proper maintenance prolongs ductwork longevity and performance.

Look for some common warning signs regarding a potential blockage when wondering how to check a dryer vent for clogging. If you are suddenly seeing more lint left inside the dryer and in the lint trap, you may have an active blockage. Additionally, if the dryer is taking longer than usual to dry clothing, a clogged vent may be the culprit. If the dryer is turning itself off because of overheating, this is a potentially dangerous sign of a blockage that requires immediate cleaning of the vent. Clogged vents could introduce a fire hazard.
