"I had wood floors installed upstairs last year and I loved them so much that I wanted the same on the first floor.. Dayton, the sales rep, did a great job listening to my request. I hadn’t planned to make a purchase, but she gave me such a great price that I moved forward and will have my floors installed in August.."

"John and his professional crew went far beyond meeting expectations. During the floor preparations, they excavated and repatched a decayed section of my footing and a y shaped crack in my flooring with professional lasting filler. During cabinet installation, Garage Experts not only installed the cabinets precisely to fit uneven walls, but provided at no extra cost several rows of add on slat wall tiers to better accommodate my wall hanging tools and equipment. John even designed a special slat to properly hang my extension ladder near the ground. Finally he installed a unique bike rack enabling my wife to load and unload her two wheeler without lifting bike. Service was courteous, thorough and on schedule. Could nt ask for a better job! Small issue with seam coming apart at the taped line but are fixing it in just 3 more days! Thank you HomeAdvisor and fellow reviewers!! You made my choice in who to choose for carpeting easy. Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

It depends on what’s important to you. For instance, if you’re looking for the lowest-priced carpet material, consider polyester. Alternatively, you could go with olefin (also known as polypropylene), another synthetic carpet material that costs about the same as polyester. Otherwise, if durability is the priority, nylon or wool would be a better choice.

Not sure what you need? A local carpet installer can explain the difference between various carpet types and help you decide what’s best for your home.

Stain-resistant carpet might be worth it for your household if you have children or pets and expect spills to happen. While it may cost more than you expected upfront, you may save money in the long run if you have to replace your carpet less frequently (thanks to stains not absorbing down into the fibers).

Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.

However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.

As with timing, the cost to remove tile flooring varies depending on a number of factors, including size and type, adhesive type, condition of the tile and adhesive, and the method used to remove it. If you’re doing it yourself, you can expect the job to cost only the price of any tools, materials, or equipment that you don’t already have. If you’re hiring a professional, expect to pay between $2 and $7 per square foot for labor costs, along with added fees for materials.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.
