"Matt and his team are the ultimate professionals. Matt spent hours with us recommending color choices for our living room, kitchen, main bathroom, hallway, master bedroom/bathroom and family room. His color consultation and choice of colors for the various rooms in our house was priceless. He mixed a custom color for the wall behind our bar. This took about 10 different formululations and turned out perfect. Our master bedroom had textured paint and ceilings that needed to be scraped/sanded down. Multiple coats of joint compound were applied to smooth out the walls. The team did a wonderful job and the walls turned out beautiful. He returned after we had carpeting installed in our master bedroom and touched up all of the marks from the installers. If you’re looking for durability or outdoor use, opt for enamel paint. Enamel paint is typically oil- or lacquer-based, so it dries hard and it’s ideal for exposure to the elements. Latex paint is water-based and has more flexibility when it dries so it won’t hold up as well to changes in temperature or exposure to wind, sun, or rain.

Depending on factors such as weather, use, substrate condition, and type of paint used, pool deck paint should last anywhere from 1 to 5 years. Keeping the paint clean and resealing every year or two can help extend the life of the paint. Proper preparation before painting also plays a large role in how long the paint lasts on a pool deck. Paint will likely not last as long on a pool deck in poor condition before painting.

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.

For larger areas, like painting walls, a roller is the best option for applying eggshell paint. Rollers are made to hold more paint and spread it evenly and efficiently over your wall. A roller will be faster and give you a more even coat than a brush for painting walls and ceilings, and it will avoid the visible texture you’d get from brushstrokes for a clean finish. For smaller areas, like trim, a brush will work so long as you remember to paint with the grain of the wood.

You should wait for caulk to cure before painting it. Silicone and acrylic latex caulk can take anywhere from one to 10 days to fully cure, and polyurethane may take 10 to 12 days to cure. Always follow the instructions on the label when it comes to painting over caulk because different types require different drying and curing times.
