"Matt and his team are the ultimate professionals. Matt spent hours with us recommending color choices for our living room, kitchen, main bathroom, hallway, master bedroom/bathroom and family room. His color consultation and choice of colors for the various rooms in our house was priceless. He mixed a custom color for the wall behind our bar. This took about 10 different formululations and turned out perfect. Our master bedroom had textured paint and ceilings that needed to be scraped/sanded down. Multiple coats of joint compound were applied to smooth out the walls. The team did a wonderful job and the walls turned out beautiful. He returned after we had carpeting installed in our master bedroom and touched up all of the marks from the installers. He went over our house with a fine tooth comb after the painting was completed and any imperfections that were found were fixed immediately. We highly recommend Matt and his team. You can use either paint thinner or mineral spirits to clean paint brushes, but both have distinct advantages. Paint thinners are better solvents, making them a good option if you need to clean your brushes quickly or if you are dealing with dried paint, which mineral spirits can’t remove. On the other hand, mineral spirits have less toxicity, less odor, and lower volatility. It is safer to use indoors and doesn’t evaporate as quickly if you need to leave the brushes to soak.

While often used interchangeably, flat and matte paints are not the same. Flat paint has no gloss and is completely shine-free, while matte has up to 10% resin, giving it a slightly velvety appearance. That small amount of gloss in matte paint gives it a more elegant, modern appearance than flat paint, though flat paint is ideal for hiding imperfections in even the most dented, scratched, and repeatedly repaired surfaces.

You can paint an old wooden fence, but make sure first to do a deep clean (ideally with a pressure washer) and inspect the fence for any existing damage. Painting over dirt and debris will cause your paint to peel. Once you’ve cleaned and repaired any minor issues, use a primer and high-quality satin paint.

One gallon of paint covers about 400 square feet. Assuming that you have four equal walls that are 8 feet high, a 12x12 room will need one gallon of paint per coat. The number of coats you need will depend on the condition of the wall and whether you’re painting over an existing color or starting fresh.

Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners to protect the finish.
