"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"We have half of my 35 solar panels on the roof that was needing to be replaced, so it was hard to get a bid and those two who gave me a bid was hard to nail down on what was going to be done around the panels. Ron listened and negotiated in good faith. Friendly crew and they cleaned up nicely, worked quickly, and were knowledgeable. They tied in new shingles with the old ones that could only have been replaced by removing the solar panels, which I did not want to do as I had trouble with the solar system and it is working well now. The roof looks amazing. The price was competitive. Ron was organized and kept good track of things on paper."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.

A gable roof costs between $13,000 and $30,000, depending on the size of your roof, the materials you use, and the type of gable roof you install. If you’re building a gable roof for new construction or as part of a major home remodel, your pricing will also depend on the type of roof trusses you use, how accessible your property is, and some other factors.

Metal roofing offers durability, energy efficiency, and resistance to extreme weather conditions. It can reduce cooling costs, has a longer lifespan than traditional materials, and provides a sleek, modern appearance, adding value to a property.

It’s possible to install your chimney cap in some areas, but it’s usually better to hire a professional. Before you attempt a DIY chimney cap installation, check to see if your local building department requires a permit. If it does, you should hire a professional to pull the permit and complete the work for you. Even if you don’t need a permit, getting up on your roof is dangerous, especially if you have an aggressive pitch or slippery roof material, like metal. Hiring a chimney professional guarantees the job is done correctly and keeps you safe from injury.

Stripping existing shingles and installing a new shingle roof takes a professional one to two days, and sometimes up to three days for larger roofs. Additional safety measures necessary for steep roofs can extend the timeframe even further, as do added measures, like replacing roof decking or reinforcing your roof structure to support heavier materials like slate or clay.
