"Chad painted our 30 year-old+ Morton building and it looks fabulous. The paint had faded and the building was looking pretty tired. Chad power-washed and then repainted using paint that will last for many years. I really appreciated the quality work. The lines between the two colors we chose were tight. Additionally, Chad overcommunicated to ensure we had current status without question--especially given this was such a large job. For example, it was raining one of the days he was scheduled to paint. He called anyway to make sure we knew he would not be there and provide an update on status. Awesome customer focus and experience! Excellent results! Highly recommend!"

"My partner and I had replacement windows installed in our bedroom. The were already primed and we intended to paint them ourselves. The house is 106 years old and the trim is orignal with many coats of paint, etc. After working several evenings and one full Saturday and with only one window set of trim and one window painted, we knew we needed help. The window company suggest we call Celtic Painting and talk to Scott Keating. We called and explained our situation and asked for the painting to happen as soon as possible. They managed to work us in for the following Friday at 7am. On Friday, Joe called ( at 7:00am) and said he was running a little late and would be there by 7:30am. He came at exactly 7:30am and went to work. By about 3:30 pm the windows and trim were all painted with 2 coats of paint. He had caulked around the windows as needed and done some sanding, although we had said we could live with the imperfections. We were very satisfied with Joe's work and our experience with Celtic. The area was cleaned up, no paint anywhere it shouldn't be and Joe was very professional, quiet and effiecient. We will definitely consider this company again if we need interior painting done."

"I only use James when I need some work done to my house. He responds fast, gets the work done quicker than just about anyone else I've ever used and seems very concerned with leaving his customers happy."

"Besides installing wall covering with literally perfect results, contractor, Tom Warrington, also re-finished a section of damaged plaster ceiling with equally outstanding results. I have been around a variety of tradesmen much of my life (my father was an architect) and I have learned to distinguish those who are conscientious and take pride in their work compared to the losers. This contractor is a winner in every way."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.

Yes, most professionals patch and smooth walls after removal to prepare for new finishes.

To remove pre-pasted wallpaper, you’ll need to wet the wallpaper or steam it to loosen the paste on the back of the wallpaper. Spray the paper with water, then let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. From there, you should be able to peel off the wallpaper. Then, you may need to follow up with a cleaning solution and a scraper to remove any remaining wallpaper paste on the walls.
