"He did a great job from first contact. He was quick to respond and came out for an estimate within days. He thought we wouldn't get back to me for a few days but I had a quote that night.  Within a week I had my new porch and a way to hide my UGLY trash cans. He also fixed my wood fence that some family members did and I must say I was thrilled to have a functioning gate! IT HAS NEVER WORKED FROM DAY ONE LOL! I would highly recommend Tyler! "This is Paul's second project at our home.  His first project was the laundry room (which was really a test run at who we would hopefully hire for the larger kitchen project).  Paul stayed true to his bid and was easy to work with on minor changes.  Major changes were negotiated and Paul was fair to work with.  In the days of CAD (computer aided design) we were stretched outside of our comfort zone with Paul's hand drawn designs.  We were confident that he had what we were looking for... but had we not had the positive experience in the laundry room we NEVER would have been able to take the leap on such a large project.   That said, we are so happy that we did.  The benefit of using Paul was he could easily incorporate changes that many of the large firms would struggle with.  The best example of this was the custom fireplace mantel that Paul did.  Originally the mantel was going to be a separate piece; however, after the cabinets were in (and before the mantel was made) we asked him to make it look like it all went together...and he did.  
After the cabinets were done, we hired Paul to do all of the trim work in the home.  We did not want the standard "big box" base moulding and trim.  Paul custom made all of the trim and moulding in the areas we renovated.  It looks great.
My wife is a self proclaimed neat freak.  Paul kept the site clean and overall did a nice job keeping the mess to a minimum.  Paul has an easy going laid back personality and was easy to work with.  He was consistent about laying blankets and mats to protect the new hardwood floors.

"He came to my house, but never actually delivered the design. He asked for 2-3 wks. I gave him about 4 wks. I tried to contact him to follow up, but I did not hear from him. I have received a refund from Angie's List. He told me they were doing (maybe paving?) when we first met, and he's trying to do landscape design? It was only $39. When I first contacted the rating was A, and it was B when I last looked. Maybe it's a case of trying to do too much, or needing to narrow the scope of work. You can know/do a little about everything, or something about a little....not both."

"GCS did an excellent job executing a pretty complicated project. I would definitely recommend them to a friend. The bid that Dennis provided was very detailed and thorough. He came by several times to take measurements and ask questions about our intentions and goals for the project. He also had his electrical and HVAC subcontractors contact us to gather information about the project. It took about two weeks for the bid to be completed, which caused us to get a little impatient, but the final result was far more complete and thorough than any of the other bids we received. The cost was also very competitive. Work started soon after we signed the contract. Dennis did a very good job of coordinating the the tasks, including bringing the various subcontractors to the site in a timely manner, and within about 6 weeks we had the foundations poured and the basic framing done on the 8'x10' kitchen addition and the 16'x20' 1st floor bedroom/basement addition. Dennis' team were receptive to the changes to the plan (there will always be changes to the plan) that we asked for. The changes were documented, invoiced and priced reasonably. There was a lot of inside work to perform, so that took another 3 months or so. Insulation, drywalling, drywall finishing, carpet removal and installation, removal of the old kitchen cabinets and appliances, etc. Again, Dennis did a good job of scheduling the various specialists to come in and do their thing. Dennis was very responsive to any issues or concerns that came up through text messaging or by phone. Problems: Main issue was that the pace of work in the middle of the project was slower than we would have liked. This was mostly an issue with one individual worker. Overall: We are very happy with the results of the project and would recommend GCS highly. Attached picture is of the kitchen interior just prior to completion. It is exactly what we had envisioned."
