"Tom came into my home explained everything to me. Went to the store and picked up my doors and got to work. Tom was fantastic and his work went above my expectations. I will definitely be calling Mr Handyman again and asking for Tom do the work."

"Garage For You built us a beautiful custom garage. The process was smooth and communication was good. This was our first large construction project, so we had lots of questions and needed to go over everything a few times to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Ricky and Ivona were very helpful and the construction staff worked very hard. We have received many compliments on our garage and it's the nicest in the neighborhood for sure."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I can't say enough about A P Builders and how absolutely wonderful they have been from start to finish. We completely gutted and remodeled our home and Angelo was upfront, honest, timely, and everything that was contracted was done to perfection. We had crew there every day from start to finish. He started on time and finished on time. Any change orders were handled professionally and solutions were found for any unforeseen challenges due to the age of my home. I highly recommend AP Builders for any of your home improvement needs."

"These brothers and their crew did an outstanding job remodeling our basement with new flooring, cabinets, doors, walls, cabinets and fresh paint. The place looks super polished with no details missed. I was most impressed with their communication throughout and enjoyed working with them. They are well intentioned people that want to do good work and please the customer. I would recommend to anyone looking for a home or office renovation contractor."

"We’re still in the planning stage with Icon and haven’t even broken ground yet, but we already have to leave a review because they’ve been that impressive. From day one, these guys have been on top of everything. They answer our questions fast, keep us in the loop, and actually listen to what we want. No runaround, no feeling like just another job on their list. The whole design process has been way easier than we expected. They walk you through everything step by step and give you tons of options to make the house truly yours. We came in not really knowing what to expect and they made it simple. Honestly, if the build goes half as smooth as everything has gone so far, we’re going to be thrilled. We can’t recommend Icon enough — these are good, hardworking people who take pride in what they do. Can’t wait to see our dream home come together!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Tiny houses, often called tiny homes, need between 100 to 400 square feet, with the most common size being between 200 and 300 square feet. Tiny houses more than 400 square feet venture into apartment-size dwellings and may be considered more of a traditional house than a tiny home. The number of occupants, desired lifestyle, and furniture will all be major factors that determine the desired tiny house size.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

While it’s best to have access to large, healthy, strong trees in a safe position, treehouse living is still possible without them. Contractors can fit tree posts to build the structure onto or use posts as additional support alongside the trees themselves. If you’re in doubt about the suitability of the trees on your land, consult with a local treehouse builder before you start the project.

The term “cottage” is subjective, so there’s no rigid definition, but it generally refers to a small home with simple and purposeful architecture that embraces nature and focuses on charm over everything else. Cottages are typically 1 or 1 1/2-stories tall, usually with gabled roofs, and are built out of natural materials that help make the structure a part of the surrounding nature rather than something that stands out from it. A big part of what makes a cottage a cottage is the decor, which includes natural materials from the nearby area.
