If you put too much baking soda in your pool, your alkalinity will rise. That means you’ll need to take steps to lower your alkalinity. You can check if your pool is bonded by looking for a copper wire that connects to the motor and pumps and then extends into the ground. An electrician can check the system and determine if it is up to code and meets all swimming pool bonding requirements.

How often you should add water to your pool depends on how quickly the water evaporates. Keep an eye on your skimmer box, if you have one. Top up the water in your pool if you notice the water levels are lower than the bottom third of your skimmer. This helps prevent damage to your pump. 

Replace all the water in your pool every five to seven years, depending on how often you use your pool, the weather, and whether or not you close your pool for the winter.

Your indoor pool can be heated or unheated, but the decision depends on your local climate. In regions with freezing temperatures, heating your pool will keep it warm during the winter, especially if it’s only covered with a greenhouse enclosure.
