"Hired to do valuation of a manufactured home - not on land. Gave appraisal comparison properties included land. therefore not an accurate valuation. Thought salesperson understood nuance."

"Jeff was extremely professional and well informed. I was buying a property in Chicago, Il, however I live in California, so his help was extremely valuable during the process of purchasing. He was able to guide me and negotiate a reasonable price for my condo as well as help direct me through the Chicago buying process. He was always responsive and provided details I would never have thought of. I recommend him highly! Thank you, Jeff!"

"I purchased a big deal for handyman services by Chicago estate and retail. Jose and his son were excellent! They were punctual, courteous.and skilled. While Jose's son assembled a bench for my entryway, Jose worked on repairing a cracked wooden door in the guest bedroom. Jose applied wood filler in the crack and then painted over it. The door looks great! Jose then installed crank handles on my kitchen windows. Lastly, Jose looked at the cracked paint on the window and door casements throughout my house as well as some damaged drywall, and quoted a very fair price for the work. I highly recommend Jose and his son and will definitely use them for my next home project.

"February 10th my apartment burnt down and I lost everything. For over 2 weeks I bounced around from place place not knowing where I would permanently lay my head. Needless to say I was a nervous wreck. I got lucky and met Al Ramirez from Fundamental Properties. He worked with me and help me secure an apartment. If it were not for him personally I honestly don't know where I would be!"

Property Appraiser FAQs, answered by experts

Some appraisers hold a Member of the Appraisal Institute designation. This accolade is the highest credential property appraisers can earn. An MAI appraisal is typically used for commercial properties.

While your lender will likely recommend an appraiser, you can also hire a professional home appraiser on your own. Choose someone who is experienced in your type of residential property, and ensure they hold all of the necessary credentials that your state or region requires.

Installing a flagpole can improve your home’s curb appeal, so it will often have a modest positive impact on your property value. You’ll see a much larger bump in property value if you install a custom wooden flagpole than you would if you install a standard aluminum pole. Adding lighting to your flagpole will also have a positive impact on home value, as will trimming trees away from the new lawn addition.

Yes, home appraisers look at your windows when appraising your property to determine the market value of your home. They’ll factor in the type of windows, quality, condition, whether or not there are screens covering the windows, frame materials, size, insulation, and more to come up with an unbiased property assessment.

Yes, the age of your home can impact its value. However, age is just one of many factors that will have an effect. An older home may be perceived as needing more work and maintenance, but if you’ve kept up with repairs or done any renovations, this will increase its value. Buyers will also consider the size of the house, location, and how nearby homes are priced. Lastly, value also depends on whether it’s a buyer or seller’s market.

Typically during transactions or refinancing, or whenever significant improvements are made.
