Yes, it's best to use a carbide-tipped masonry bit when drilling into concrete. These bits are harder and more durable than standard bits, so they're designed for drilling into tough surfaces like concrete. When pouring a new concrete slab, you should consider how additional costs will affect your total, including reinforcements, decorative enhancements, finishing, and curing. It's also important to consider local laws regarding the grade, drainage, and permits for installing concrete on your property. Speak with your professional about the ideal thickness for your slab, and also consider whether you’ll need drainage for slab longevity.

To remove carpet padding glue from concrete, scrape away as much of the top layers as possible with a sharp-edged scraper or putty knife. You can be more aggressive on a concrete floor than on hardwood, so scrape off as much as possible. Then you can soak the area with hot water for a few minutes before continuing to scrape. If there is still glue left behind, use a solvent that is made to remove adhesives and apply it to the area. Then scrape the rest of the glue off.
