Varela's Concrete

I hired Varelas Concrete to put in my stamped concrete patio. They did complete the job satisfactorily, not fantastic, but ok. My biggest issue is just prior to completion Araceli arrived and had them measure the patio and said it looked too big. She then said I owed an additional $812 because there was more square footage than was in the contract. The crew still had a few hours of work to do building a seating wall and two pillars, and I got the inclination that if I didn't pay, she would have pulled the crew and left the job unfinished. I foolishly paid her the extra amount because I wanted it completed, and I mistakenly trusted her. I didn't feel that the square footage was over the contract amount, especially since she was the one who painted it out when we first got the estimate. I measured the finished patio using two different methods of calculation and found it to actually be slightly smaller than the original contracted square footage. I wasn't worried about that difference, but the additional charge for over 60 square feet x $13/sqft was certainly inappropriate as the extra square footage just isn't there. I texted her to which she initially replied, but I asked if we could have a conversation about it instead of texting. I asked to her to call the next day at her convenience and wished her a good evening. She never returned my calls, or texts from that point on to discuss the discrepancy like an adult. I highly recommend that you stay away from this company due to the poor communication and business practices of Araceli. The guys were pleasant while on the job, but the leadership is very unprofessional. She owes me $812 and refuses to communicate despite me being very polite and professional and wanting to discuss the matter like adults.

The truck going down Ridge rd. Almost killed my family doing 60 mph in a 40mph zone running a red light . And then laughing about it. Left a picture on yelp after we caught up to them at another intersection. What a turd. I’m pretty sure if it was his family in the car he would be ****** off .

We hired Varela's to remove existing sealer and reseal stamped concrete patio. They charged us $300 and instead of removing existing sealer they just put new sealer on the top of the old one . Now the pation look worst than it did before their service( white spots of tick sealer all over the patio) . I called them and spoke with the lady owner who just ignored my concern and have no intentions to fix the problem.

Feel awful for taking this long to write a review.  Great experience.  We changed our mind on design twice and the end product that was delivered was amazing. Lead time was a bit much but hard to blame them for that since the weather was awful this summer and I have to imagine that had everything to do with it.

The project was spread out over 3 days.   Removal day 1, pour concrete day 2, seal day 3.  Left the yard very clean and even cleaned the siding where some of the concrete splattered up.  Did a fantastic job of leveling with the rest of the yard where a shed pad once sat.  Wherever the equipment left tire marks, they raked up the grass and replanted seed everywhere to cover their tracks.

Beautiful work, and will have them back again to do our sidewalk next year.

I am not terribly happy with the patio. They put a concrete path around the firepit that cracked. They patched it with cement that does not match the color so it looks patched. There are parts of the concrete that look raised; there is a ridge that runs along it so it actually is uncomfortable to walk on barefoot in places. Their price was fair.

They came on time ... Finished promptly. Good work.
