"Glad to be a repeat customer! JRG did such a great job on the first project I used them for that I contacted them again to replace an exterior door. This was not a simple remove the pins and change the door job. They had to remove the entire rotted wood frame holding the door, cut the steel door to get a custom fit, and break some improperly poured concrete that was preventing the door from being leveled. All of this was done in 4 hours with just 2 people, David and Jorge. Lastly, despite their busy work load, they took care of this for us one day after requesting if they could help us get this done soon. Best home remodeler I’ve ever used!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

If your patio door is worn and outdated, replacing it could be well worth the money—especially if you plan to sell your home anytime soon. An updated patio door will catch the eye of potential buyers, while a dingy one with peeling paint will likely be off-putting. A new patio door can also improve your home’s security, lower energy costs, and decrease the noise from outside. Ultimately, your choice will come down to the current state of your patio door and your replacement budget.

Solid wood is a durable and attractive option for cabinet doors that holds up well against a small amount of moisture. However, solid wood doors will expand and contract, meaning upkeep will be necessary if painted. Particleboard with veneer cabinet doors are cost-effective and can be attractive. MDF cabinet doors offer excellent and predictable workability features. However, both of those options are vulnerable to damage if water finds its way through the veneer or paint finish.

Yes, pros adjust frames and guide rails to fit unique dimensions.

The lifespan of your door depends on the door type, its wear and tear, and the weather conditions in your area. For instance, front doors last between 20 and 60 years, depending on the material. Garage doors, on the other hand, last between 15 and 30 years. Interior doors don’t get hit with the elements and can last between 20 and 50 years, if not more.

If you don’t know which door sweep to buy, look into getting a strip or bristle sweep. They’re easy to find at the store, work well for most doors, and the simple installation is DIYable. Before buying one, measure your door width and make sure the one you want is long enough. Most door sweeps are 36 inches long, and you can cut them down to size with a hacksaw.
