"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"Jeff and his crew waterproofed our basement last February after we dealt with water leakage issues for three years. They did a tremendous job for us and finished the job in a timely manner and on budget. As proof of the quality of their workmanship, our basement was bone dry after the 5.5 inches of rain that fell on Metamora/Germantown Hills, and the greater Peoria area on July 15. Thanks to Pivotal, I'm not bailing out my basement this morning. Thanks again Pivotal--you're the best in the business, and we are so happy our neighbor recommended you to us."

"Very professional. Cutting the basement wall was not the usual suspect, it was almost 2 feet thick. We were very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and the materials used. After 2 years of use, we have a beautiful daylight basement and a great egress window that does not leak even after the downpours we have experienced."

"It was fine, he came on time and evaluated the basement area for moisture.  I was concerned about a long crack down the wall, but he assured me that no water was coming through and provided a waterproof material to seal the crack.  He finished, cleaned up the area, and left.  He was very personable and professional.

"Basement Seepage Solutions was my fifth quote. I almost canceled because I was sick of getting quotes and all the big companies charge about the same $70-90 per foot of drain tiles. Matthew's company beat these quotes hands down. He charges $50 a foot plus $10 off a foot for Angies list members (a savings of $1000 for me.). This company beat the next lowest quote by $3,600 so this was a no brainer. Matthew's company did excellent work. They were on time and professional and communicated with me the entire time. Also, Matt is on site during the process and is not just a sales man who comes for a quote then sends out a crew. The job took two days mainly due to the Villages inspection schedule. But I think this is preferable over the big companies that want to do it all in one day but are in your house from 8-8. Highly recommend if you need any sort of basement work done"

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Regular inspections, maintaining proper grading around the foundation, and keeping gutters clear are advisable. Vapor barriers and sealants may need checking for wear after several years.

The purpose of soffits is to circulate air, so a blocked soffit means the air in your attic becomes stagnant. This can lead to a number of problems, mostly moisture-related, that can cause damage to your health and your home. The good news is that unclogging soffits is relatively straightforward, and if your attic is easy to access, an easy DIY project.

In most cases, a crawl space will not dry out on its own unless the moisture comes from an uncommon flood and isn’t expected to be a recurring issue. For most homeowners, moisture problems in the crawl space will only continue to get worse over time, so addressing the underlying problem with gutter systems or a foundation drainage system and setting up a preventative solution like a dehumidifier is necessary.

The first step to preventing foundation cracks is to repair any current ones. When one crack forms, it becomes more likely that a second crack will follow. A few other tips include performing regular foundation checks, cleaning spouts and gutters, and installing exterior drains if needed. For those living in a hot and arid area, you should water your foundation every other day.

Yes, basement insulation needs a vapor barrier due to its susceptibility to moisture seeping in from the outside of the house. You should install a moisture barrier before you install insulation or purchase insulation that comes prebuilt with a moisture barrier to avoid water damage in your insulation and costly mold and water remediation expenses.
