"They were professional, efficient, and cost effective. The communication every step of the process was being expectations. I wish they traveled to other states because the attention to detail is rarely seen nowadays."

"Like that they could find the problem with my roof leak that three others did not. while fixing the leak, they corrected other problems as well for siding and vents. They were like others who have worked on my siding, left behind a handful of nails and cigarette butts on my lawn to be throw away. I will use Griffitts in the future, since they know how to do things correctly!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Copper roof strips offer better coverage and more damage protection than zinc roof strips. Although both deter moss and algae growth, copper also offers UV protection. Zinc strips require more strips than copper to cover the roof’s surface area, which means more holes in your roof. Copper strips are also more flexible and last longer than zinc strips.

A roof pitch that’s too shallow won’t shed runoff as quickly, so you have an increased risk of water intrusion through the seams between your roofing materials. In colder climates, snow and ice will accumulate more easily on your roof, which can add enough weight to cause roof collapse and structural damage to your home.

If you live on the West Coast or anywhere with the threat of wildfires, you likely want to take steps to fireproof your home. Besides waterproofing and life span, rubber roofing also is noted for being fire resistant. Consult a professional roofer for details on what type of roofing would be best for you if fire resistance is a priority.

Some people prefer to use connectors consisting of galvanized metal to replace the birdsmouth cuts on the rafter board. Common names for these metal pieces include hurricane ties and variable-pitch connectors. Making birdsmouth cuts is more cost-effective than purchasing these connectors for each rafter. However, because making large birdsmouth cuts to accommodate extra-wide exterior walls can weaken the rafter, a connector may be the better option in some cases.

No, you do not need gable vents if you have a ridge vent. In fact, gable vents would actually interrupt the process that ridge vents are set to conduct. You would be better off to decide between the two depending on your home’s needs.
