Customers say: Super punctual

"Glenn did an excellent job installing a new ceramic tile floor in our bathroom. He had to also repair some rotted sub floor beneath the toilet area. He did a great job and it looks fantastic. We are planning a new floor in our kitchen and will definitely call Glenn again! Quality work! Our bathroom looks new again!"

"Maurizio explained the entire job including pricing, and timeline. He gave us options on how we wanted our new backslash to look. Tony and Sal are true artists when it came to the install. They showed up on time, worked hard, and actually enjoyed their work. The job was finished on time, and on budget. I would highly recommend this company for any tile work that you may need."

"I recently hired Grout Medic to handle a much-needed tile grout repair in my home, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. Tony came out to review the project and give me quote, and his team did a great job on the work. If you are looking for someone who combines technical expertise and fair pricing with old-school professionalism, Grout Medic is the company to call."

"Ruben is the real deal, the best option out there, just give him a call! My wife and I have lived in this house for nearly a decade, many things have had to be repaired and updated, and after years of remodeling work, the one thing that is always dreadful is looking for contractors, which at times has have been very frustrating, scary, and probably, the worst part of the experience. Until we found Rubens Remodeling. Ruben and his team were incredibly professional, tidy, respectful of the other areas of our home, always on time, and great communicators. Each portion of the work was detailed, and properly planned, the plumbing has been the most professional work I have ever seen, the tiling is pristine, precise and clean. The crew members had incredible attention to detail, foresight and knowledgeable of their craft. They were not in a rush to finish and jump onto the next job, they were committed to do a great job and they did, outlining what would be worked on each day and giving a proper forecast so we could also plan along. They make sure that whatever you need to get done, is done to the best possible quality on their behalf, taking time to insulate pipes and properly level walls and floors, advising on the best options and further actions for after care. We now have a beautiful new shower that we frankly did not even think was possible from a very long ago built-in bathroom with an awful metal tub and dull cream tile. We cannot recommend Ruben enough and his work was worth every penny. Stop wasting your time with people who do not show up, demand estimate fees, leave jobs incomplete and leave you feeling frustrated. Go with Rubens Remodeling and you will not regret it!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.

There are no unbreakable rules of design, but experts recommend against using large tiles in areas with poor subflooring where they’re more prone to cracking, in areas where the floor isn’t entirely level, over raised areas or dips, and in bathrooms where budget is the primary concern. The size of your bathroom shouldn’t be a reason not to use large tiles; in fact, larger tiles, also known as slab tiles, can be a modern and sleek choice for bathroom floors and walls.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

The number of shower niches you need (or want) depends on the size of the shower and how many bathroom products you plan on storing. If you keep it simple with just soap and shampoo, the one shower niche will probably do the trick. But if you’re adding scrubs and soaks, you may need to think about installing two or more.
