We are backed by Unilock and are considered one of their top residential installers as well as an authorized Weber dealer. All of our work is fully guaranteed. We are also a complaint free member of the Better Business Bureau with hundreds of satisfied customers. "We were looking to have a new covered patio installed with a fire feature. We had quotes from several different companies but didn’t feel satisfied with either the price or the company ‘s vision. Then we came across Arrowhead. After reaching out to them, we received a phone call within a couple of hours and had an estimate completed by Jim within a few days. We had a general idea of what we wanted but Jim really blew us away by showing us several different options and photos of some their quality of work to help us visualize the plan. Within 1-2 business days, Jim had our estimate with a couple of different options and a 3D plan. Arrowhead was very reasonable in terms of price when comparing to other companies. After thinking things over, we found an idea of a unique outdoor linear fireplace from a website to go along with Jim’s plan for the patio and pavilion. We sent a photo of the fireplace over to Jim and within a day he had a price which was more reasonable than we expected. Jim also had some great ideas when it came to the design of the patio and pavilion. Work began as expected. Jim did an excellent job coordinating all of the different tradesmen to complete our project (patio installers, carpenters, electricians and plumber). All of the workers were very courteous and the project was completed faster than expected even though the weather wasn’t the greatest. We are so happy with our new patio! I was a bit nervous about the entire project at the start but after we met Jim I knew we were in good hands. I would highly recommend Jim and Arrowhead to anyone looking to complete an outdoor project."

Design First Builders is a premier Chicago home remodeling company and all-inclusive design/build firm located in Itasca. We specialize in kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement remodeling and basement finishing as well as home additions, room additions and design. Serving all of Chicagoland we have over 100 years combined experience and are dedicated to simplifying the renovation process and building sophisticated spaces that add value to your home or business. We will also build your custom home on the lot of your choice. When DESIGNfirst was founded in 2006, we had a staff of three people managing all design, development and construction for projects throughout Chicagoland. Today we have a large team of Designers, Architects, Managers, Contractors and more to assist you in defining, expanding and building your dream space. We also offer financing options, client referral rewards, excellent customer service and have various industry partners offering discounts exclusive to our clients. We do everything with the client in mind to ensure a smooth process in creating every dream space!

"We hired Design First to redo our downstairs including a kitchen and bathroom. I would never recommend this company to anyone based on our experience with them. The company should be renamed Disappointment First. We used this company due to the recommendation of a friend but did not realize the ownership had changed. There are several other reviews that discuss how the company’s performance degraded with the new ownership. If you do use Design First, please learn from our mistakes in dealing with them and insist upon a firm completion date with a penalty per day for missing it. Several of their competitors offer this, and in our naivete we did not request a penalty for missing the completion date. We had a signed change order with a guaranteed 12/25/23 completion date, that they missed by several months. When we brought this up in discussions with them, they were dismissive and stated no penalty so nothing we can do."

Chicago garage builders, Garage 4U, Inc. has been building custom garages since 1990. As a family owned and operated small business, service and European craftsmanship allows us to give you - our customer - freedom to choose what you want. Every garage is custom built from first grade materials and we offer a variety of sizes and finishes. No job is too large, no dream is too big. Please call us today for a free estimate. Uses subcontractors for roofing.

"Was the garage built well, overall? Yes. Was everything else a complete mess? Yes. Down payment in April 2021. Project not completed until July of 2022. There were a couple occasions where absolutely nothing was happening for 2 months at a time. Numerous messages unreturned or returned very late, sometime until threats of getting a lawyer. At some point the excuse was covid, an other it was a death in the family, at another their office manager simply told me she "had not been feeling herself lately" and that was the cause of a couple of months delay. Survey took an insane 5 months. Not because surveyors were not available, they were, but they used *their* guy, who was apparently very backlogged. I was charged for the services of 2 people for the survey - It was an old man doing the work, while his wife sat in a lawn chair and read a book all day. I was quoted the garage when wood prices were at their absolute peak, and even though the lumber was ordered a year later they had the audacity to call and ask me for more money - despite them already denying me a discount for the obscene delays. When they initially told me they submitted plans to the village (after my numerous requests for status updates) I called the village and they had not submitted anything. First plans actually submitted to the village had multiple errors and I had to catch it to have them correct it. When the plans were finally accurately submitted and G4U were not responding to my requests for updates I called the village who said the plans were approved a while ago and G4U had not yet paid the permit or right of way. Go figure. By the time the permits finally came through it was now November with freezing temps, so the project now had to be pushed until early spring of next year. The demolition guy they sent, which is used by at least a couple of companies (saw him at a Blue Sky job last week) knocked over a wall of the old garage on my neighbor's fence, 5 minutes after I told him to please be careful to not do so, since it was clear that was going to happen. He also knocked over a wall of the old garage on my garden, wrecking my wire fencing and he couldn't care less about it. The cement sub-contract they used poured a terrible mix of concrete for the apron with awful seams and crumbling edges. I had to call them out on it and they came back to tear it out and repour it. The concrete work is not particularly great, with rough spots and out of plumb areas along the perimeter. I've also got a surface crack forming already, less 3 months after the pour. The concrete guys also splattered wet concrete on the siding of my house, which was an absolute pain to try and scrub off after hardened. Furthermore, the concrete guys had fried fish for lunch and they threw the bones in my bushes, which my dogs found and nearly choked on. The guys who did the framing worked quickly and professionally. However when the lumber was delivered they damaged my chain link fence and chain link gate. They later repaired the gate, but only after I discovered the damage a couple weeks later and called them out on it and noted it was on camera. Which by the way, from the security footage they clearly saw the damage when it happened and decided not to tell me about it. [This should be enough for you not to use them.] I told them specifically the brand/color of siding I wanted to use, which had 2 month lead time. They waited to order the siding until the day they started the framing, which led to another delay in finishing the project. The aluminum guy they used for the soffits, gutters, door frames was very good. I would hire him in a heartbeat. The electricians were good, however, not the installer's fault, I told the salesman Bob that I wanted to put a 100amp sub panel in the garage later for some EV chargers, so he up charged me to put a 3/4" line to the garage from the house - only to find out now that per code you can only run 60amps with a 3/4" conduit, so I'm stuck with that. Dozens of cigarette butts scattered through my yard during the project. Additionally... About the same time I made my down payment I recommended Garage For You to my neighbor because of the initial experience with the salesman. His project was also mired with delays and poor communication, to the point where I was embarrassed I had recommended them. At least his garage ended up getting finished in 2021."

Midwest Landscaping Design & Tree Service Inc. is a family owned and operated company. We are based out of Downers Grove. We have been servicing the western suburbs for 35 years. Some of our many specialties are designing and renovating your property. We offer FREE ESTIMATES and are FULLY INSURED. We offer 1 Year Guarantee on Plants

"There were large gaps between the pavers at the end of my driveway. When Pat got here, he convinced me to do additional work in other areas of the driveway. On the next visit, Pat said I should cut back some trees and shrubs around my property. A mature birch tree and an evergreen shrub was cut down to a stump, while I wasn't home. This appears to be part of his MO - as he added many things to the "verbal contract" every chance he got, doubling the contract price without providing any paperwork or receiving any signed approvals. Then when it came to payment he REQUIRED CASH. I am a small Asian woman and when questioning the quality of work he got visibly frustrated and shouted at me in front of my 8 year old that "[he] should have known better than to deal with a...." at which point I asked him to leave my property. The "great job" he did leaves my driveway looking aesthetically worse than when he started, and my pavers are still shifting - wish I could upload a short video."

Greenhouse services FAQs

One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.

The cost of a paver patio is $3,800 for a 280-square-foot patio on average. Depending on the patio size, paver material, and design complexity, this cost can range from $2,400 to $7,000 or more.

The size of your patio is a significant factor in the project’s overall cost. If you're building a smaller patio of only 60 square feet, your costs will be closer to $480 to $1,500. If you want a more luxurious 900-square-foot patio, you'll spend closer to $7,200 to $22,500.

The average cost to enclose a patio to create a sunroom is around $5,000, and prices generally range from $3,000 up to $10,000. The price you pay will depend on the state of your patio and whether it needs repairs or additional structural support, the quality of the materials you choose, the size of your patio, and whether you plan to run utilities into and finish the sunroom. The price for a fully finished patio enclosure could run up to around $20,000, while you might pay just $2,500 for a screened-in porch.

The cost to build a detached garage for two cars costs about $26,400 on average. Prices range from $19,200 to $33,600, depending on your location, the garage size, height, materials, and site prep required. Additional cost factors include any plumbing, electrical wiring, and insulation. If you need to build a concrete foundation for a new detached garage, you can expect to pay $1,000 to $8,600 for this essential addition.

In almost all cases, you will need permits if you plan on building a sunroom over your patio, but regulations and requirements will depend on your municipality. Permits to enclose your patio will usually cost between $300 and $1,000. Since navigating local building codes and zoning requirements is challenging—and the consequences of not following them can be extremely expensive—we strongly recommend hiring a sunroom builder to complete the work and pull the permits for you.
