"We initially set out to demolish our ancient wooden deck and replace with a stone patio. Our original contractor let us down so we contracted with Stone Worthy as a late replacement. Thankfully this was a “blessing in disguise” as Stone Worthy exceeded our expectations completely and we have subsequently recommended them highly to all our neighbors resulting in several new contracts for them. The job its self was started on time and completed within the expected time frame. Their workers were polite considerate and hardworking even accommodating some changes to the plans on the job. We came in right on budget and found their cleanup to be complete. The final product, as shown in the photographs, was stunning and we have no issues highly recommending Stone Worthy to anyone looking for high class hardscape stone work! They are a pleasure to work with."

Mini Dumpster Rental & Landscape Material Home Delivery 3.5 Yard Dumpster for: * Dirt * Concrete * Bricks * Gravel 7 Yard Dumpster for: * Construction Debris * Household Junk * Yard Waste Landscape Materials: * Topsoil * Compost * River Rocks * Sand * Mulch

"We contracted with Ignacio to install epoxy on our new basement floor after receiving a recommendation from Angie’s List. After talking to him on the phone and other contractors, we decided to move forward as he seemed knowledgeable, responsive, polite and eager to get started. As he requested, we paid half upfront, and funny enough, that’s when things started to change. He was very flaky in communicating with us, late to appointments and never delivered on floor samples he promised us. He also told us he would sand before applying the top coat, then made an excuse on why he skipped sanding altogether. Ignacio completed the work and we paid him the other half of the project. After the floors cured, we went downstairs to enjoy our new floors and were very disappointed with the quality of his workmanship. There was loose sediment that he didn’t bother to vacuum and just epoxied over it. Some of the epoxy was disturbed before curing and left permanent imperfections in the finish. Multiple of Ignacio’s hairs were left visibly sealed into the floor. Multiple bubbles were scattered throughout. Some of the epoxy was mixed incorrectly leaving parts of the floor permanently sticky. I called Ignacio asking him to come back and repair his poor workmanship. He became extremely defensive and belligerent, making excuses for his shoddy work. He eventually agreed to return and make repairs but refused to schedule a time. He kept repeating, “I’m busy. I’ll let you know when I can come back”. Weeks pass with no word from him. I contacted him again asking when he is going to come back. He continued on with his belligerent responses saying he’ll let me know but refused to actually schedule a time for him to come back, then hung up on me. It was at this point it occurred to me that he wasn’t going to come back. Funny enough, there are two other reviews on Angies List that pretty much mirror my experience. Shame on Angie’s list for recommending Ignacio and shame on me for not doing my due diligence. Stay away from Ignacio. He’s a fraud contractor that does not stand behind his work."

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can do German schmear on stone. You can account for the more textured and rough surface of stone by using a large paintbrush instead of a putty knife. A brush allows you to drag mortar across the stone to get it into all the cracks and crevices. However, a brush will cover more of the surface, so you may need a wet sponge to scrub excess mortar and expose more of your stone.

Two types of masonry are veneer masonry and solid masonry. Veneer masonry is thin brick or stone material attached to the face of a building. With veneer masonry, the walls support the weight of the masonry products rather than the masonry being built on a concrete footing. Solid masonry is a wall or other brick or stone structure built on a concrete footing, and the masonry supports itself.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.

They offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and resistance to weathering compared to concrete or asphalt.

Brick spalling—which refers to the crumbly, flaky, or pitted appearance that can develop over time—is caused by a few different conditions. These include:

  • Climates with constant freeze-thaw cycles

  • Use of non-breathable sealants

  • High-pressure water cleaning

  • Improper installation

While you can’t do anything about the weather, you can preserve your bricks by cleaning them with soapy water and a good old-fashioned scrubbing. Pressure washers may be satisfying to use, but they can eventually wear away the surface of your bricks. If you don’t have advanced-level DIY skills in masonry, you can hire a reputable masonry contractor in your area for your project.
