"In 2017, when I was looking to purchase a house in the Rockford area that was needing a full siding install I contacted GF Company in Belvidere. IL, who I found on Angie’s list and at that time GF Co had great reviews. Strangely enough these great reviews are no longer to be found on Angie’s List. It should also be noted there is a GF Siding in Cherry Valley. IL, this is Not the company that I did business with. Ariel Zmijewski (the owner) got me a quote quickly and I decided to purchase the house. A few months later in July 2017, I contacted Ariel again to discuss the finer points of the quote, the price was revised slightly and the Ariel mentioned that once a deposit was paid work could start 6-8 weeks later, but said the install would be finished before the cold weather arrived. I started creating a color layout and Ariel provided some feedback on what would work and not work. To this point I was very happy with progress. In September 2017 I paid a deposit of over $8k (about 44% of final price) and awaited updates for a start date. Nothing happened. In early March 2018 I contacted GF Co by phone stating that I had been very patient and they had had $8k as a deposit for the last 6 months and I had nothing to show for it. After a couple more calls and emails Ariel showed up with his foreman Mark and they said that work would start in the middle of the following week. Much to my surprise the work started on time. Over the course of the next 4 weeks Mark and his crew worked hard, only missing a few days due to bad weather, I even agreed to having some extra work done by the team, some wooden entrance steps that needed replacing for an additional $2.5k. By early May 2018 the job was finished the house looked great and I was very happy with the work and appearance and was getting compliments from neighbors too. The balance of owed of over $10k was paid with 48 hours of the work being finished. Again I was happy with work done, until… A few months after the install a TV cable box started having troubles. Cut a long story short the wall socket died because cable was suddenly defective, also the crew had moved the exterior cable input box and this didn’t help the issue. Comcast fixed it, but I now have an exterior cable showing and they had to drill through the siding. Then around Halloween 2018, less than six months after having the install completed, I noticed that a piece of siding (6ft approx.) had become detached underneath a window, trying to pop it back into place did not resolve the issue. After checking all the other exterior windows I noticed 1 other window was about to do the same thing. I called the GF Company main number and left a message with the receptionist for Ariel to contact me. No response. I called again a couple of times and left more messages still no response. In March 2019 siding problem under windows still Not fixed, I called GF Company again, no answer, and no voice mail. I called a couple more times on different days still no answer or voice mail. I then sent an email to the company and to my surprise I received a response from Ariel stating this was the first that he had heard of it. About a week later (3/26/19) he showed up at my house to view the problem. Ariel stated that he would get someone over to fix the problem, but would not give me a date or time. On 4/2/19 I emailed Ariel again asking for confirmation of a repair date ? Nothing but crickets… On 4/30/19, I sent another email to Ariel requesting that the repairs be completed before the end of May 2019, again no response. Quote / contract says: Customers will receive a Lifetime Warranty on Material and Workmanship Reported GF Company to Illinois BBB on 6/5/19."

I purchased 3 hours of time for handyman service. I had a list of things that I wanted done during this time with my contact at Sound Construction. Via email, he shared with me what could be reasonably be done during the 3 hour timeframe.  We agreed that 2 exhaust fans would be replaced in two of our bathrooms.  He, also, asked me if we wanted to buy the exhaust fans or if we wanted him to buy them. Since we have no expertise in buying exhaust fans, I told him to buy them.  He indicated that the cost would be approximately $250 which was agreeable to us. I told him that I would pay him for the exhaust fans when the worker arrived to do the work. We got a follow-up email saying that the exhaust fans were more expensive that the original quote. He said that the prices had  gone up since he last purchased exhaust fans. The new  total amount would be $300 which we agreed to pay.

A  Sound Construction worker arrived on time to do the work.  He was very organized and was careful to cover my bathroom countertops before laying out his tools. He was pleasant and I was impressed with his expertise. He said that one of the exhaust fans took more time to install than he expected. While I had purchased 3 hours of time for this installation, he actually needed an additional 10 to 15 minutes to replace the two exhaust fans.  So to complete the job, he needed between 3 hours 10 mins. to 3 hours 15 mins.  He then told me that I needed to pay him for an extra hour of his time because of the additional minutes used. I asked him if I could pay him for an extra 15 minutes or 30 minutes. He indicated that I needed to pay for a full hour of his time. He said that since I had to pay for another hour of his time; I could give him additional work to do. I then asked him to do some small tasks to fill in the extra 45 minutes that I was forced to pay. All of the work that he did was very well done. My concern was about how the pricing was handled. I would have been fine with paying for an additional 15 mins. or even 30 mins. I felt ripped off being asked to pay for an extra hour.

When it came time to pay him, I asked him for the sales receipt for the exhaust fans. He said that he did not have the sales receipt but that I owed him the $300. Who charges customers for materials and doesn't have a receipt to document the costs!!! I was shocked and angry. Plus, he said that I owed him additional dollars for materials that he needed to do the work that was not included in the amount quoted in the Angie's list deal. Therefore, I had to pay him $414.00. This was $114.00 more than I had expected to pay. I resented paying for the extra full hour of time, the additional money for his materials and the fact that he had no sales receipt for the exhaust fans. I will not use them again for any services.

"Shawn and his team made the whole process so easy! They got the most out of my insurance claim and I didn't have to fight with my insurance co. they handled it all. In addition their construction work was beautiful! Have received many compliments from neighbors about quality of work. They were incredible . I left for work in morning and by the time I got home I had a new roof. Not a scrap showing anyone had been there. Same with siding and gutters. "We have just had AOM complete work on our home. If you are on the fence about using this company, I hope this review helps. The interior of our home had not been painted since it was built (about 2003). It still had the flat contractors paint and some areas were looking decidedly worse for wear.Being pregnant with a toddler on the loose, we decided not to attempt the painting ourselves. I commenced obtaining quotes. Generall,y when having work of any kind done on our home or appliances, I prefer to go with a company that has been recommended to us by friends or family we trust. So we had a number of companies from around the local area come to give us quotes. However, I spotted AOM on Angie's List and was intrigued by their offers and more importantly, the reviews people gave them.I decided to call them for a quote. Well, they were super fast in getting back to me and David offered to come out the next day to provide a quote. After a walk through and explanation of what we needed, he was able to quote me on the spot.We had a relatively tight schedule to get the painting done. We decided to have it done whilst we were away overseas. Certain past experiences have left me largely mistrustful of giving my home over to anyone while I am away, but after chatting with David and Ashly, the owners of AOM, I felt confident that we were in good hands. We were leaving in less than a month and needed the work done by the time we got back. No pressure. Ashly and David were fantastic in fitting on with our schedule requests. Ashly was so great in helping us to decide on exact colors to match our general idea of a color scheme, coming over more than once to put up paint swatches in the different rooms in different areas so we would be able to tell how it would look regardless of time of day. I can't tell you how many color samples we tried before we made our final choices. My mother in law was gracious enough to offer to be on hand to help out with daily concerns, and the AOm team worked so well with her. She was completely impressed - not an easy feat with her! Before we left we had constant communication with Ashly, who even helped me choose paint scents.While we were away, we got regular updates, with pictures from AOm as well as an online work board so I would be completely in the loop with the work done/to be done. We returned the day before yesterday and LOVE the work they have done. We are so incredibly happy and impressed with the work they did. They did all our ceilings,our walls, fixed cracks and dents where needed,painted the walls and to my absolute delight, managed to get my dinged baseboards and door frames looking like new again.They also took care of the smaller details, like kindly replacing globes they saw had blown out. Today, David came by for a walk through to ensure we were happy with everything. There were a few minor things that he fixed right there on the spot. Needless to say, all their fantastic reviews are well deserved.They work hard, work smart, have integrity, and are so very accommodating to their customer's needs. That they are also trustworthy is a huge thing for me , and I suspect that anyone having work done in their home, whilst they might not be about at all times, will understand this. Give them a call - you will not be sorry. Oh, and their quote? A fraction of the cost we were quoted by the others. We intend on using them for all projects in the future."
