Small jobs welcome

"Andrew did a great job in removing and installing three interior door frames, doors and casing. He explained everything that he was going to be doing pre job start and answered my questions along the way. When he was finished the installed doors/frames and casings looked great and he cleaned the work areas very well. I would recommend him highly for quotes and work"

"Outstanding service.  Installed on time as the order stated.  We used them several months ago to do our outdated reach in closets and they did a great job.  We decided to contact Rich the designer again to see what he could do with our basic shelving in our laundry room. He asked a few questions and emailed us the design that night.  No pressure sales and presented to us what he could build and we got to pick and chose what we wanted completed.  The day of the installation went really well.  Steve came out and installed the shelving.  He also did the install on the initial project we did for our closets.  Quality instal with absolutely no issues.  We would use them again, but we have ran out of closets and storages areas.  I would recommend them to my family and friends.

"5 stars!! Could not have been happier with the work performed in my house. Jason went beyond all of my expectations. All of the work was completed on time and professionally. Jason discussed the entire project, in detail, with me before we began. I could not find a fault with any portion of the work. I highly recommend A New Look Construction for any carpentry."

Customers say: Quick response

"Dan and Joe did some basic finish carpentry work in our kitchen including installing a range hood. They did a great job overall and were done in a day and half. They were professional and communicated well, asked me specifically what I wanted done, did great work and cleaned up after themselves each day. I would recommend them and hire them again."

Customers say: Quality work

My name is Steve and I specialize in interior stair case and railing renovations. I remove entire stair cases and railings, just railings, or just the spindles, and replace with brand new. I have been doping this for over 20 years and have plenty of references available. I am insured and I give free estimates. I work in the entire N.E. Illinois-area, except for the city. I don't usually work in Chicago. But it depends on how far in you are. We can discuss it.\n\nPlease give me a call and lets see if I can help you with your project.\n\nSteve

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.
