"I needed the skirting to be reattached to my mobile home. Handy Abe told me to find all piece that had gotten ripped off by the wind and save them. I went outside and figured out how to reattach them and was able to complete the project with my son. It would have been a little costly had I not found all the pieces. Handy Abe kept in touch with me to make sure everything was okay. I really appreciate that. If I need any other work I definitely will keep him in mind."

Small jobs welcome

Hi! My name is Daniel and I have been working and getting my hands dirty since a teenager. I use to work in remodeling residential houses, but now I'm a supervisor in the Ink industry. I've always been good with figuring out how to fix things from household appliances, to holes in walls, or having to regrout bathroom tiles due to mold. I've put in hard wood flooring, vinyl flooring, drywall, trim and crown molding, as well as paint. I'm willing to go about 25-30 miles from my home to work for some extra income. And if you do follow through with hiring me, I can assure you, whatever you need done will get done in a timely and efficient manner with care and attention to detail. So please reach out with any questions and I'm more than willing to be at your service.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Some painters will repair minor drywall damage. For repair work of any kind, it’s a good idea to hire the professional required for the job. Many painters will have the materials on hand and can add them to the total cost. While you may save some money, there is a chance the work will be subpar compared to a professional who specializes in drywall.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.
