"Markus performed the work on the dates agreed to, on budget and took the time when it was time for payment to show me videos and photos of how he completed the work to ensure I was comfortable with the job performed. I was impressed with his thoroughness and professionalism and would recommend Progressive Restoration for projects both large and small."

"Anthony did a great job with hanging 10 double curtain rods. They were a more difficult install and took longer than Anthony initially thought, but he worked hard all the way through until completion. Very courteous and even fixed a mistake I made. Professional and made every effort to get a perfect level as possible. Would recommend for anyone else."

"We had a lot of different things. I've seen him do antique cars, furniture and he is extraordinary. I cannot recommend him enough. He does not charge his clients enough money. He even mends pool covers for us! He is fantastic. He can do just about anything with a sewing machine."

"The designers were very nice.  However, they only recommended/carried a litmit number of suppliers - few of which were in Indy.  The suppliers they carreid were also very expensive.  Even though I sent pictures, I found that I needed a designer that could come to the house and help find local suppliers for paints and material."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Interior and exterior door openings are typically 80 inches high, with openings 29¼ inches wide for interior doors and 35 inches wide for exterior doors. If your couch is smaller than these measurements, it should fit through the door frame.

Upholstering allows personalization, extends furniture life, conserves resources, refreshes decor, and often costs less than buying new pieces.

To safeguard your furniture and upholstered items, it's best to use plastic wrap or specially-made plastic sofa covers. However, you should avoid wrapping wooden furniture in plastic if you plan on storing it, as plastic can trap moisture and warp the wood, plus it may damage certain finishes. In either case, old blankets or moving blankets make excellent alternatives. For protecting delicate glass table tops and mirrors, bubble wrap is always a reliable choice.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

The average cost to reupholster a piece of furniture is around $720, with most projects falling in the $380 to $1,150 range. The final price can vary significantly based on several factors. These include the size and complexity of the furniture, the cost of the new fabric (which typically ranges from $50 to $70 per yard), and hourly labor rates (often $40 to $100 per hour). Additional factors that influence the price are the piece's current condition, its age, whether it needs other repairs, the number of pieces being reupholstered, and your geographic location.
