The first contractor I got an estimate from didn't even discuss resetting the stones the way I wanted - he just gave me HUGE estimates for doing something he thought was better in the stepping stone area and redoing the other two areas.
Jan (?) from Townline came out, surveyed the three problem areas, told me frankly that one could not be salvaged and would have to be redone completely, discussed the problems with the second area, and said her company could do exactly what I wanted with the stepping stones and haul away the excess stones for $200. She told me frankly that fixing the other two areas would cost a lot of money. I opted to get just the stepping stones fixed (as they were a hazard).
The work was done promptly and efficiently, and the stones are solidly in place now.
