"A prior contractor had left stepping stones extremely wobbly and had installed them in a ridiculous manner, using 14 stones when only 4 were needed. I also had a couple of other stonework problems. The first contractor I got an estimate from didn't even discuss resetting the stones the way I wanted - he just gave me HUGE estimates for doing something he thought was better in the stepping stone area and redoing the other two areas.
Jan (?) from Townline came out, surveyed the three problem areas, told me frankly that one could not be salvaged and would have to be redone completely, discussed the problems with the second area, and said her company could do exactly what I wanted with the stepping stones and haul away the excess stones for $200. She told me frankly that fixing the other two areas would cost a lot of money. I opted to get just the stepping stones fixed (as they were a hazard).
The work was done promptly and efficiently, and the stones are solidly in place now.

"Below is my review for work done on my home a few years ago: I am a return customer of Mr. James DeLeo. I have selected him to complete multiple projects for my properties and this time I was trusting him with the huge undertaking of renovating my 1895 Chicago Row House. Once again, I was impressed with the quality workmanship and problem solving skills of Mr. DeLeo and the tradesmen that he chose to bring on as part of his team. I spent over three months working with his men on a daily basis. I opted to live in the row house while they completed an extensive renovation, so needless to say I spent a great deal of time with Mr. DeLeo and his team. I am so grateful for the hard work and vision they provided in order to shape my hopes for my home into a reality. I am thrilled with the outcome of the renovation and was very pleased with the efficient and considerate work of the men who loaned their skills to this project. The house presented some obstacles along the way, but Mr. DeLeo and his team were able to brainstorm solutions that allowed me to maintain the vision I had for my home. The estimate Chicago Pro Construction provided me at the onset of my project was honest and very reasonable. As the project progressed, he always provided me with the most cost and quality effective means to address the couple of unforeseen issues my house presented. All of the men Mr. DeLeo selected for my project were considerate and respectful. I had a dog and a cat living with me during the renovation and they even went the extra mile to make sure that my pets experienced as little stress as possible during the project. I have already recommended Chicago Pro Construction to several of my close friends who have enlisted their help in projects of their own, and would not hesitate to continue to recommend Mr. DeLeo due to his integrity in terms of business ethics as well as quality of workmanship."

"THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB. I CHOSE THEM BECAUSE THEY MOVED A HUTCH THAT I COULDN'T LIFT AND EVEN REMOVED THE CARPET FROM THE ROOM. THIS WAS ALL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE THAT THEY QUOTED. WILL CALL THEM AGAIN FOR OTHER WORK THAT WE NEED DONE. THEIR PRICE WAS VEY REASONABLE, ALSO. THE JOB I HIRED THM FOR WAS TO INSTALL PORCELAIN TILE IN A SMALL ROOM."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.

A koi pond should be at least 5 feet deep to keep the fish healthy and ensure they don’t freeze in winter. Koi fish are also known for growing large, so the more room you have, the better. A larger koi pond size will allow the fish to grow bigger than a smaller one will, and the more fish you have, the bigger the pond you’ll need. Learn how to build a pond in your backyard to ensure it remains functional and aesthetically pleasing for a long time.

Consider the pros and cons of installing a water fountain in your backyard:

Pros

  • Fountains can add beauty to your backyard.

  • Creates a relaxing space to enjoy in your yard.

  • Water features can add more value to your home.

Cons

  • Regular maintenance is necessary.

  • Upfront and maintenance costs can escalate quickly.

  • Space may not permit you to install the fountain you want.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.

Because frogs require fresh water for survival, they can die from repeated exposure to swimming pool chemicals. Chlorine dehydrates frogs, which can lead to their deaths. To ensure frogs don’t hang out in your pool for long periods, safely remove them once you spot them in your pool and install a frog log so they can easily hop out on their own.
