Not all homes are suited for solar panel systems. Older roofs or those in poor condition may need repairs or replacement before solar panels can be installed. Running six or seven light strings simultaneously should only cost you around $10 to $15 each month. You can save even more money by remembering to turn off your lights during daylight hours.

A Level 1 walk-through inspection will cost between $150 and $200 for the auditor to point out inefficiencies in your home. On the other hand, a more thorough Level 3 audit with testing and a detailed report will cost about $900.
