  • Let me start by saying that Frank is a perfectionist and everyone that works for and with him is the same way.  We had previously used G&G to reface our kitchen cabinets and knew the standard of Frank's work.  Our master bathroom was outdated with a prefab shower, Jacuzzi tub and cherry cabinets.  We wanted everything taken out in order to modernize the whole room.  Frank offered many suggestions and we used most of them - turn the toilet around, get rid of the big built in tub and replace it with a free standing soaking tub (which is gorgeous!), and full length glass walls in the shower.  Chris and Robert executed those changes and everything was installed perfectly.  The work included:
  • - demo of the room

- rebuilding the shower stall from scratch, including tiling the floor of the shower and 2 of the walls, installing new fixtures and a niche  in the wall. An outside vendor installed the glass on the other 2 walls.
- turned the toilet around so it was in a better location.
- removed Jacuzzi tub, which included removal of all the piping related to it and reinstallation of plumbing for new free standing  tub. This tub also has a free standing faucet fixture which included a hand held shower.
- tiled the floor and base board.
- installed a double vanity which included approx. 5' towers on either end. Granite vanity top with undermount sinks, new plumbing fixtures, lights and mirrors (these were custom made by the glass company).  Let me comment that all of the electrical work and plumbing were done prior to receiving the cabinet.  Robert did all of this work off of the diagram and everything lined up perfectly once the cabinets were installed.
- painted walls and woodwork.
Frank was in constant contact with us during the project and stopped in to see how things were progressing.  There were no hidden costs and we paid Frank the amount he gave in his estimate.

"I take a lot of pride in my home, and as a fur mom, I need spaces that are both beautiful and practical. My bathroom was starting to feel outdated, so I decided it was time to upgrade the bathtub and replace the old fixtures. Century City Baths made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. The installation team was professional, respectful, and meticulous. They kept everything clean throughout the project and paid close attention to every detail. The new bathtub is comfortable and beautiful, while the updated fixtures instantly made the bathroom feel more polished and refreshed. "Top Bros Construction was a clear choice for our construction project. We needed to find a crew to replace our floors with hardwood and update the bathroom. Too many of the guys we talked to only did floors which would leave us with other projects to coordinate including baseboards and the bathroom. Cesar, family and crew did it all. Not only did they do it all, but they took pride in their work and craftsmanship and the end product shows. Not only are we happy with the result, but they minimized the disruption we experienced in the process. Cesar let us know well in advance when we should be out of the house, and what to expect and when. When his team encountered the inevitable snag, like the refrigerator no longer fitting, they came up with creative options, explained them clearly and let us decide what was best for us. This allowed the project to move forward on time and on budget. There was some confusion about the final invoice, and Cesar was receptive, empathetic, and flexible to make sure we were all happy. We’ll be reaching out the Top Bros construction again."

"The entire process was very easy. I emailed a picture of the damage, and I quickly received a detailed proposal. Scheduling was easy and they were able to accommodate my schedule. Ken was punctual, personable, and very professional. What I thought was wood rot turned out to be woodpecker damage. The damaged areas were removed, replaced and painted. When I first got the quote I felt it was a little on the high side, but the quality of the work was evident. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I will definitely use Handyman Pros in the future."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

While tubs are fairly sturdy, you may notice cracks or holes. This kind of damage can happen from someone accidentally dropping something heavy into the tub. You might also see damage if you drop something heavy into the tub over and over again (like your extra large bottle of body wash). While you might only notice a small dent at first, this can later turn into a crack or a hole.

Also, certain cleaners that are harmful to your tub can cause damage. And if you have a fiberglass tub, you might see cracks if it was not installed properly with the right support.

The cost of installing a new bathtub is considerably more expensive than refinishing an existing one, so if you’re looking to upgrade your tub on a budget, you might be better off refinishing it for now. Additionally, if your tub has only minor damage, refinishing it will make it look new again without the extra demolition and time.

An alcove tub is designed to fit into a three-walled enclosure in a bathroom. A drop-in tub, on the other hand, is placed into a custom-built frame or enclosure. This frame can be fitted to an alcove, making a drop-in tub a viable alternative if you want a more custom or spa-like look. Because the frame is custom, drop-in tubs offer more design flexibility and a wider range of materials, such as cultured marble or tile, compared to the simpler acrylic or fiberglass of a typical alcove tub. The frame for a drop-in tub can also be placed anywhere in the bathroom it fits, not just in an alcove.

While Medicare will pay for some bathroom modifications, it won’t pay for all modifications done to help make the room more accessible for older adults. Plus, the improvements must be approved in advance, or they won’t cover the upgrade. Check well in advance of construction if you have coverage for grab bars, walk-in tubs, wider doorways, higher toilets, and more.

To keep a walk-in tub in good condition, clean it regularly with non-abrasive cleaners. It is also important to periodically inspect the seals, jets, and faucets to ensure they are functioning correctly.
