"Everlast Exteriors did an excellent job installing new vinyl siding to my house. Mike, the owner, was very responsive every time I contacted him. From the first time I talked to Mike he had our best interests in mind. The cost of the siding was competitive with the other estimates I had.. The whole crew who installed the siding was courteous, hard working and very professional. When the job was all finished, the crew cleaned the.work area thoroughly. My wife and I are very pleased with Everlast Exteriors."

"I was very happy with our siding project. Josh was very impressive in his detail to help design our project, and he also stuck with us to help secure money from our insurance company. We appreciated his efforts to meet with us numerous times to help secure money from our insurance company. Luke was a great project manager. He communicated to me on the progress of our project frequently and addressed any concerns about our project immediately. This made the walk through a piece of cake. Marcin did a fantastic job executing our project's plan. He addressed any attention to detail I raised and also on his own. I appreciated him working on Saturdays to help finish our project in a timely fashion especially with the crazy weather this year. I will definitely look to Opal for future projects for our home. I was especially happy with using Opal for the first time and having my expectations exceeded."

"I received quotes from 3 different asbestos abatement companies.   Bluestone Environmental gave me the best quote and were very professional.   I worked with an appraiser by the name of Ron - he arrived on-time, answered all my questions, and emailed me a quote the next day.  Likewise, he promptly answered subsequent email questions.  There was a 10 business day waiting period after signing the contract (required time to obtain a Cook County permit.)  Bluestone scheduled my service on day 11.  Two Bluestone technicians came to my home - Tyler and Conrad.  They arrived right on time, and instantly put me at ease.  It is not an easy thing for someone to walk into a private home and make the homeowner feel comfortable right away (especially when they are coming to remove asbestos), but they did.  Tyler and Conrad were very professional, courteous and skilled.  They also explained the process and were very considerate of my home.  Likewise, they were very careful about containing the area with plastic and they used used negative air-pressure/ particulate air filtering within the contaminated area.  They did a great job of cleaning up afterwards.  The air sampling reports came back clean.  I was able to have the plumbing work done the next day with no issues.
I would highly recommend Bluestone Environmental to other homeowner's in need of asbestos or mold abatement services.

Siding questions, answered by experts

Brick and stone are the most durable and longest-lasting siding materials, often lasting for 100 years or more with proper maintenance. Copper is another material known to last over 100 years, though it can develop a greenish patina over time. Zinc is a metal siding that can last 80-100 years. While these options are the most expensive, they offer superior value and longevity. For a more affordable yet durable choice, stucco can last 50 to 80 years in dry climates. Fiber cement siding is another excellent middle ground, offering a lifespan of 50 years or more with low maintenance at a lower cost than stone or brick.

Concrete log siding is not the same as fiber cement siding. Fiber cement siding is made from a mixture of cement and cellulose fibers, while GFRC is made from cement, glass fibers, and polymers. The materials are similar in their durability, longevity, and curb appeal, and the main difference is that concrete log siding is available in more styles that resemble traditional log siding. Fiber cement is also less expensive, with materials costing around half what you’d pay for concrete log siding.

While vinyl is the less expensive option, composite siding has been known to be more durable than vinyl. In addition, because it is made from recycled materials, it is a more ecologically-friendly choice. Composite siding is also more luxurious looking and comes in a much wider range of styles and colors.

You should plan to stain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and provide maximum protection, though some estimates suggest a range of four to six years. The exact frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the overall condition and quality of the wood.

For homes in harsh climates with high humidity and significant sun exposure, you should plan on staining as often as every three years, while those in milder locations may only need to do so every seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh climates, consider using an opaque stain.

If you are looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, you might consider vinyl or aluminum siding. While the initial installation cost can be higher, they do not require as much upkeep and can offer more value over time, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.

Yes, insulated vinyl siding increases the R-value of your home. Depending on the quality and brand of the insulated vinyl, you can get an R-value that is up to 5 times greater than traditional vinyl siding. This can be fantastic for homeowners who are trying to lower their utility costs.
