"We used Eric and his team to give our house a complete face-lift...new kitchen, new bathrooms, wood floors, new doors, window framing, painting, can lights...I'm sure there is more that I am forgetting. They did AMAZING work! Eric and his guys are professional, the communication was great, the finishing touches elite, and the job was finished on the date he said it would be done (which is unheard of). I recommend Eric to all of my friends and I will continue to use him for projects that come up in our house."

"A really great experience - our new go-to painter! We got a recommendation for this contractor at our local paint store because we were looking for specific expertise with masonry paint and limewash. The owner was responsive, solutions-driven, reasonable and timely. His whole team was professional - and we really appreciated their high quality work product and attention to detail. The whole team delivered exactly what we wanted…..our home looks so beautiful now!"

"Beau and his partner, Daniel did a wonderful job removing wallpaper, painting a master bedroom and bath, and repairing and painting the ceilings. They were both were very polite and efficient. Daniel was kind enough to do a couple of extra things for me that I needed help with, and contacted me the next day to make sure that everything was taken care of. I was pleased with their work overall. Very nice and ambitious young men."

"We had an awesome experience with Huck. He was very friendly, and gave exact quote after he saw the job. Once he started he showed up on time as agreed and was extremely detailed with his work, he definitely takes pride with delivering a 5 star end result. We recommend him without any hesitation or concerns. He cleaned up after the job too."

"I hired Juan to hang drywall, tape and paint in the basement. He did a great job at a fair price and finished on time. I made some changes to the job while in process and Juan accommodated those without missing a beat."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.

Damp plaster does dry out, although the drying time depends on several factors, including the type of plaster, the surrounding temperature, moisture content, and the extent of the dampness. Sometimes, it can take weeks or months for wall plaster to dry naturally.

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Sometimes gaps can appear if your foundation shifts significantly but if this is the case, you have a much bigger problem than patching drywall.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.
