"My computer (Windows XP) was running very slow and had become almost inoperable. It was taking a very long time to process anything, especially anything to do with the internet. IE was taking 100% of the cpu most of the time. Jim worked on my computer remotely for several days defragging, cleaning, anti-virus, malware, etc., but could not get it to perform anywhere near where it should. We decided that I needed a new computer. Jim built me a new computer (Windows 7 with racing stripes). The new system works very well and I am pleased with it. When Jim switched my files over from old to new, the Kodak Easy-Share program with my pictures did not get transferred. He has promised to make that transfer when he installs a new door covering the DVD reader which was broken upon setup. I will update this review when this occurs. I am very pleased with the new system and would do it all over again if a similar situation were present.

"Sales process was good, courteous and helpful. Installation instructions were easy to follow. Did have a small issue with one sensor which was easily solved with a call. Control panel is easy to use and well constructed. Phone app is the best part. Not a big fan of a 2 year contract and the monthly rate feels a little high, but definitely a decent system. I had emailed them a question pertaining installing on double hung windows and never received a reply, but other than that their phone support prior to that was good."

"After moving into our first home, we knew things would go wrong. What we didn't expect was to find seepage in our family room and sub basement upon taking the keys.  Enter these guys. After getting several estimates from other, larger companies, this company was the last estimate we received.   Brian came right on time and gave us a thorough inspection and estimate of the problems we described.  He wasn't "gimmicky" nor did he try to tell us all these extra things we "should" do. He was to the point, and very reasonably priced.
We were scheduled to have someone come out a week or so later.  Unfortunately, in our original estimate, we had only seen a few seepage issues. In between the estimate and the day they came to work, we found more problems. So when they came out, we had to redo our estimate and reschedule as they were unprepared to do the extra work they had not known about.  They were very accommodating when we had to reschedule and gave us the soonest next appointment they could. Even with the extra work they were going to have to do, they again gave us a very fair price for everything.  The other companies had quoted us at least almost double what they wanted.
The day they came out again, we had Mike. He was 15 min. early which was great and very polite when I met him.  He took the time to walk around and look at everything that needed to be done and made sure I was clear with what was going to happen, and then he got straight to work.  He was very neat when he had to break open the drywall and cleaned up well after he was done. The injection points he filled were done very thoroughly and neatly. He even showed me how they were working once he finished that portion.  When he went to the outside to dig up dirt and fill those cracks, he made every effort to not rip up our bushes, and again, restored things to the way they were prior to him working.  He also took time to run water over the cracks to ensure no water was seeping anymore.  The window well that was repaired was worse than originally thought, so he carefully filled everywhere he could to make sure it was not going to leak again.  And the sealing on the stoop was very neatly done as well.
He took about 4 hours total for all work and he worked alone.  He did a great job and really cared about what he was doing."

Windows questions, answered by experts

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.

Bifold windows work by using a track that allows panels to slide to the side and "stack" so they take up minimal space, leaving the largest opening. The sashes connect to each other with butt hinges or concealed hinges and to the window frame with the same type of hinges you’d find on a casement window. Some manual bifold windows also have casement stays or another piece of hardware to keep your windows in place when they’re open.

If the existing frame around the window sash is completely structurally sound, it's possible to save money by swapping out the sash for a new one instead of getting a new window. Keep in mind that it will be necessary to find a new sash that perfectly matches your existing window structure. In general, consulting a window pro to help you find the right match is the best way to ensure you're doing this project correctly.

Awning windows can have screens, but it depends on your manufacturer. If your awning window does have a screen, it will be on the interior side so it doesn’t get in the way when you crank the window open. Having the screen on the inner part of the window also makes it easier to clean from inside your home.

The amount of time window lintels last is based on the environment they’re installed in and the material that’s installed. For example, a steel lintel installed in a temperate climate will always last longer than a wooden or brick lintel installed in an area with tons of rain, snow, and wind. No matter which material you choose or where you live, proper maintenance will ensure your lintels last as long as possible.
