"Chris came on board to complete the build of our new home part way through the build process. There were a lot of issues going on that pertained to the project manager that were quickly corrected as soon as Chris came on board. He is on top of everything and quickly remedies issues that arise. He was an absolute joy to work with and was able to get our house back on track to completion. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do the work! Any new projects I have in the future would be through him! Thank you for making our dream house come true!"

"After a burglary to a managed building and panic to find emergency service to secure the property. I found Spiro's Home Makeover & Emergency Repairs. Spiro response was immediate and arranged a schedule for my needs and my tenants. I sent photos of the damage via email and he explained all of the options and suggested various ways to help fortified the doors and the frame to prevent future problems. His work was meticulous and professional. I would not hesitate to use his service for any emergency or remodeling."

"Eric the owner of the company came out and gave a free estimate of work to be performed. I live over an hour away from where he is located and he had no problem coming out to give the estimate. I got his name from my father that lives in the area where he lives and my dad gave great praise of the work he received and how knowledgeable he was of the work being done, he was respectful and wasn't trying to sell me anything that wasn't necessary to do to get the job done like the other company I had come out to do another estimate. After talking with him and getting the estimate I hired him to do the work. I am not disappointed by my decision to hire him, very pleased with his work and how respectful he was to my property. Did great work and cleaned up after the work was done unlike others I've had do work in my house that have left messes that I've had to clean up. I will definitely hire him if I need more work in the future and will be referring him to all my friends and neighbors. Great work Eric, thanks again."

Dock Building and Repair questions, answered by experts

The cost to build a new dock can range widely, typically from $5,000 to $65,000, with an average cost around $15,500. The final price depends on several key factors, including the dock's size, the materials used, the complexity of the installation, the depth of the water, the type of dock being built, and whether it is in fresh or salt water.

Cedar wood is the best choice for a hardwood dock, as it is rot-resistant and does well in the water. Pressure-treated pine and spruce are two other solid options. Alternately, composite or waterproof plastic are materials commonly used for docks, and are frequently used in prefabricated kits.

When deciding how big of a dock you can build, you should check with your city and state for any restrictions. Some cities won’t allow docks larger than one-fourth of the width of a body of water, while others have no restrictions at all. Gather this information when you apply for your permits so you can plan the build accordingly.

The cost of a new dock can range from $3,000 to $30,000, depending on the extent of the project size, location, and additional features.

For example, a boat lift can range from $1,000 to $8,000. The ladder you'll need for your dock can be anywhere from $100 to $800, not including installation. In addition, the decking you'll need for your dock can cost between $15 and $30 per square foot.

In most areas, dock builders need some type of license. In some states, only a general construction license might be necessary, while a marine construction license is required in others. You can check online to see which is mandatory in your area, and then you can use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to make sure the company holds the proper license. Since dock construction is inherently dangerous, confirm with your builder that they are fully insured for everyone’s protection.
